Unfortunatly they never release full series DVDs images/smilies/sad.gif

All they have released are "Best of.." DVD's which show you the best bits of each year but they don't truely capture the best bits - The best bits can be seen in the studio like the Cool Wall etc...but they don't put those on the DVD.

I would definitely buy DVD's of each ep or series and not download them anymore. Why don't they do it? images/smilies/bangin.gif

I'd spend so much on these DVD's; I wonder what the shipping would cost alone for the USA. images/smilies/biggrin.gif

At least I found full-lenght downloads *coughherr this site*; it got annoying when a video cut out on the episode...

what about starting a "campaign" with a webpage to put some pressure on the BBC?

One can buy even the DVD of "Most Haunted" that is so fake... too bad

I'd also like to think that the BBC realizes the high demand for DVD, but there may be some legal issues that I'm not aware of. I wonder who actually owns the rights to the show.

I don't know about the laws in the UK, but here in the US it wouldnt be a problem. They already paid for the rights to use the songs.

I guess that's why the music on Clarkson's dvds is so awful.

Actually they paid for the rights to use the songs in the UK... A song that's very popular in the US costs more than the same song in the UK, and vice versa. Record companies don't give international licenses ( and IIRC songs are held by different companies in different countries).

So I can imagine that is one factor that prevents the creation of a DVD set. Another seems to be the fact that things like the news and cool wall would have to be cut anyway, as they are either out dated, or seen as filler material. I mean the best way to reduce costs is to pack more onto each DVD, so they could conceivably fit another episode per disc by cutting out the "filler", some of which has the best moments in the show. Other things like car reviews are somewhat dated after they are done. As soon as the new Aston Martin comes out, no one really would want to watch the review of the old one, unless there was something particularly good about it (like a race). Most of that content seems to be caught with the best of DVDs.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see a DVD set. BBC DVDs at least here in the US aren't cheap (For example, I have started watching MI-5/Spooks as a result of getting it on Netflix, and to get Series 1 3 DVDs, 6 Episodes, they want $50, and they want $80 for Series 2, which is 10 episodes), so the question boils down to is a possibly edited for space Top Gear worth paying $50 for?
