    Top Gear Exhibition at Beaulieu

Just been on Holiday in Dorsest and spent the day at Beaulieu & the National Motor Museum.

Behind the main building were several of the top gear challenge cars inc the following

    3 Limo's
    3 Boats
    3 Police Cars
    Reliant Robin space rocket
    James Alpha
    couple of double decker racers
    Espace convertable
    Jeremy's cottage car.

Found out that in about 8 weeks they are going to recreate the top gear studio and exhibite the cars.

I have a few pictures if anyones interested.

    Does anyone have anymore information?

It looks like I'm not the only person who spotted these!

After talking to a relative who lives in Beaulieu, these cars have apparently been bought by the motor museum (I believe that quite alot of money was paid for what is basically scrap metal). They have been at Beaulieu for a few weeks now.
As the OP stated, the plan is to exhibit them in a few months. A simulator ride has already been removed from one of the domes.
In their current condition, only JC's Fiat police coupe is a runner. The majority are water logged (I know some of the cars did turn into submarines during filming, but the cars were obviously dried for the studio filming later) and will probably need a lot of tiding up to be worth displaying!
I was a little shocked to see the Reliant Robin Shuttle (with boosters) after it was apparently destroyed. I'm not sure if the wings have been included.

Most of the cars were full of crap. Jez's Limo was full of crisp & fag packets and Hammonds Damper Van had a selection of ladies cloths chucked in the back.

The cottage car had the log burner removed & VHS cases that look like books all on the floor.

I know that the Robin didn't actually explode on impact from watching the explosion scene on the show but it being at the museum means that the thing actually landed? Maybe that would have been more interesting to see although the explosion was more on the comic note of TG.

I accidentely started a new thread about this. Oops. I just wanted to post this article from the Torygraph. Looks like it is going to be a great exhibition. Wish it was in London, bit easier to visit from the Continent.

I wonder if they made two so they could do assorted shooting while the rocket one was being worked on. They could have filmed all the driving around bits while the scientists were already hard at work. I don't see any way the car pictured could have fallen several feet never the less several hundred and still be in that condition.

They had one in TG Live last year for the 'Tribute to the 39th Anniversary of the Moon Landings with Ford Fiestas', so I suppose it could be that one.

Perhaps the Robin is related to the Toyota Hillux?

They made a new reliant shuttle for the Top Gear Live show. In it they said "we lied that the shuttle was destroyed, here it is" however the original was OBV destroyed as this one is a completely different robin (to the trained FinalGearist's eye, anyway)

Oh yeh, if anyone else has the "Big book of Top Gear" they would have seen that these cars were kept outside the studio, to face the elements. It has picture of all them sitting outside, even may's princess.

I noticed that too, and they were mentioned in the Tractor episode at the part where they had to reverse through the lot with a trailer. Thankfully none of them were wrecked, just that Astra diesel...

This would be very cool to see, especially if it was part of a larger possibly interactive Top gear exhibit. A sort of way for Top Gear to become accessible in the flesh for the majority of people who will never get to see it filmed due to that crazy big reserve list.

Does anyone know if it'll only be a temporary exhibition and when it might end? I'd like to fly over for it.

looking at the size of the building they want to use I'm not sure its that big and looks even smaller from the inside. I may be wrong but I can't imagine all three limo's being inside.

I would of thought they will use similar stands that they use in the actual studio to mount cars.

Has anyone heard if this years MPH show will feature 'Top Gear Live' again?

    This is awesome.

I absolutely love Dorset - it is my favourite place in the world, I love going there. Now I have an additional excuse to go

I thought this was pretty pointless. Why are they making a deal of this on the US site, where they're likely to generate nearly NO business for the exhibit?
