Default Top Gear Filming New Race

Clarkson made a supprise appearance at my workplace the other night.....While i was not there!!!! They were filming a "drag race" down Runway Two at Manchester Airport in the middle of the night... The details and some photos are in Thursdays (24th) Manchester Evening News.

From what i can remember reading and from what my work mates has said it was a BMW M3 Touring Vs Merc ......

Should make good footage, we've always wanted them to come to Manchester Airport shame they couldt do it at peak time in the mornings and play chicken with the aircraft.

As he is talking about Manchester Airport and is name is PlaneBoy, I would hazard a guess that he works at the Airport.

Peter got the clues... I work at Manchester Airport.

Its not every day they let anyone untrained enter a runway day or night, im sure they'll show it too much effort not too

My guess is the 2 cars must be the BMW M5 touring and the Audi RS4 Avant. A drag race between them must be pretty interesting, since the M5 is more powerful but the RS4 has 4WD.

I think of these 2 cars because JC really liked them as saloons.

I seriously doubt it....
The M5 and the RS4 are in 2 diffrent segments and I would hazzard a guess more towards the new BMW M3 vs the CL63 or whatever that new Mercedes model is called. I'm pretty sure these are 2 cars TG really wanted to get their hands on, their both very interesting.

OP did mention that it was a M3 touring

now im not sure an M3 touring exists, but of course the latest touring from BMW (that i know of) is the new M5 tourer (wagon, estate...whatever you wanna call it)

Mercedes dont really have an answer to it...unless theres an AMG tuned E-class tourer

perhaps its not the RS4 Avant (which is estate version of RS4 and would be more at home with the M3) but the RS6 Avant (does it exist yet?)

both would have 5 liter v10's (audis is 5.5liter isnt it?) and that would be a worth while test.

they already tested the M5, some time ago as well, i dont think they'd dig it back up to go against a super coupe in the form of the CL63. for a start theyre two different cars. ones a hard core saloon, the others a waft mobile coupe. same with the New M3...ones a hard core drivers car, again the other is a big fat comfy cruiser....not the cars to go comparing, thats something FG would do.

RS4 Avant would have like 420bhp and a quattro system, it could well be a match for the 500bhp M5 tourer but i doubt it. my money's on M5 tourer vs RS6 avant (if it exists) or new M3 vs RS4 (coupe and saloon)

Why.........why why why would they have the estate on TG????? why?! an M3 is among other things, a thing of beauty, you add that huge ass in the back of it and it turns into one of the uglies car around.

Get a proper M3 and rape that Merc!

Don't forget, that in a last couple of seasons Top Gear really advanced in ratings & became much more popular. Maybe some manufacturers offer them cars to test even be4 they put them into production.
