^In Singapore, it costs $16, which is more than half of my weekly pocket money, meaning it's horribly expensive and not worthy of its pricetag. Hence I can only afford to buy about 4 issues per year images/smilies/sad.gif

Ouch Homer_Bart that is very expensive. And I thought it was pricey here in the UK. You would think with the number of adverts in there that they could lower the price somewhat, but it would appear that's not the case images/smilies/sad.gif

it's around 11€s here too, which is a bit much considering half the pages are adverts...

You have to bear in mind that were the magazine produced to that quality without any advertising then the UK cover price would probably be over £10.00 for them even to break even, and that takes into account the reduced number of pages/ink/weight for distribution if it were ad free. I know what I'm talking about as part of my job is selling printed stationery.

If someone wants to work out how many pages there would be if you took all the ads out and get a circulation figure I can get a more accurate estimate of what it would cost to produce then we'll know for sure.

Thinking about it, why can't you buy an online eBook copy of the magazine? It would help to reduce their costs and encourage more people to buy it from overseas locations.

Its quite expensive here also, especially compared to the local mags. And if you want the latest issue - the "air freight" copies which are sold in airports and good book stores are sold at a premium price.

I admit I tend to peruse through it at the book store (Borders) and don't buy it. Suits me well when I'm on a break at uni and the shopping centre is just opposite. And FYI - I don't totally screw the bookstore. I buy some music CD's from there and sometimes a coffee as well.

pattyt - we no longer encourage the distribution of Top Gear Mag on this site the last time I checked. So I suggest you either buy it, or please don't mention the scanning and distributing of it on this forum, please.

For the UK version if you wanna get it in Aus, it's about 10 dollars. But for Top Gear Aus Mag it's $7.95. My god, they're ripping you guys badly.

I buy it now and then but as it's only the James May and Jeremy Clarkson interviews I actually read (and the JC ones end up on topgear.com eventually) I always regret it as it isn't usually worth the money.

What I do instead is - once every couple of weeks I'll go to Times Online, Telegraph, Mirror, The Sun and TopGear.com and just print off a couple of weeks worth of columns from each of the presenters.

Then I add a few other things I enjoy reading (like Charlie Brooker columns and the BOFH) and staple it all together.

Oddly enough, the post above yours offers a legit place where you can get an online version of the magazine, for the same price as the UK one in UK shops.

Admittedly it's not compatible with eBook readers, but it works on laptops fine...You can get EVO this way too.

The site also appears to still be running the 'free magazine' freebie/trial that was posted here.

The reason im asking is because i live in Canada and dont think i can buy the real thing, and secondly would like an E - version of it. Free would be nice too, as always, no money for the poor student images/smilies/sad.gif

I actually think Top Gear is really cheap here in the UK, compared to other monthly car magazines (CAR and WhatCar? - which aren't as good). When I went to Norway last year, they were charging about £8.00 for it, though!!

You could try subscribing - it's probably slightly expensive for overseas delivery but at least you'd have it. I reckon Top Gear Magazine is great value for money, too.

it costs around $120 to subscribe to it here in canada, and each issue is $17.99 newstand. I usually just read the reviews on the topgear.com site and i buy the summer super car specials.

It's around $10 US where I'm at, but even if you take out the ads and buyer's guide (basically the back half of the magazine) it's still more actual material, and higher quality material, than Motor Trend, Car & Driver or Road & Track. I can justify the $10 if I look at it that way images/smilies/tongue.gif

I quite prefer having a hard copy of anything I'm reading but I would be quite interested in an electronic version of Top Gear if it were between $5 and $7 US. (HINT HINT HINT for any Top Gear spies lurking around here images/smilies/biggrin.gif )
