Default Top Gear Season 10 Available On DVD April 21st

The 10th season of Top Gear will be available on DVD here in the US starting on April 21st. You can buy it off Amazon. To the best of my knowledge (although I may be forgetting), this is the first time a complete season of Top Gear will be available on DVD, at least here in the US.

Perhaps we can get DVDrips now!

I wonder what the quality will be like vs the TV broadcast.

You are correct, sir. TG's US site says:

Quote:
This is the first time a full season of Top Gear has ever been released on DVD, anywhere.
Though I'm a bit surprised to see zero mention of it anywhere on the front page of the site itself, so close to the release date. The blog entry I quoted was posted back in Jan. If I hadn't done the odd Google from time to time, or kept up by reading FG, I might not have remembered about the S10 DVD release at all.

I bought S12 and S11 off iTunes as they look to be uncut from the BBC UK airings, but held off on S10 since it looks like it is the cut BBCA/Dave versions. I expect the DVD will be the same (500 minutes divided by 10 episodes is 50 minutes which is what the iTunes downloads are), but it would give me the ability to watch it on my DVD player and my AppleTV (after ripping and conversion) so it's worth the 100% markup over the download price.

I have a great item I got for Christmas. You can see it here.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...pf_rd_i=507846

Everything I download goes on my portable harddrive, then I just hook it up and watch it on my big screen.

There are a few short comings to the machine, but not so many I would not recommend it.

I even rip my dvds and put them on the hd. It is like having a dvd jukebox because I just watch them off my portable hd on my big screen.

Maybe. Plus unimportant bits and pieces from the Botswana special (since, natch, there was no news that episode).

Why don't they start with Series 1 and work all the way through? And why aren't they offering it in the UK!

I am hazarding a guess these are the same versions shown on BBC America, which have content edited out to allow for advertisements. Usually this is "The News" segments or some of the pre-lap banter for SIARPC.

Sounds cool. I went with AppleTV since I have a Mac and an iPhone and I prefer integrated solutions. I do use WD Passport external HDDs though and they are nice.

Well, I've pre-ordered it, though I'm sure it will be somewhat of a disappointment.

One - I do like to support TG financially when appropriate.
Two - I'm curious to see what they will have mercilessly hacked out.images/smilies/mad.gif
Three- Season 10 was probably my favorite season, content-wise.
Four - It'll be convenient to just pop one in the DVD to watch for fun.

Discs have shipped, two days before release.

Hope they won't be too disappointing. images/smilies/rolleyes.gif
Oh well, it's still TG. How bad could it be? images/smilies/biggrin.gif

Mine has also shipped. Should be here today.

As for the content, I am guessing it will be identical to what we saw on BBC America's broadcast.

Anyone got an update as to how bad/if they've been cut up?

I got the dvds today at my Best Buy. It pretty much looks like the BBC America broadcasts with all the edits. I wasn't shocked that the set was cut up but it's nice to have Top Gear in a set and to financially support the boys.

Will probably watch mine the weekend, but it does say in legible print on the slipcase, "As seen on BBC America and BBC Canada."

How sad. images/smilies/cry.gif

Dunno why they cut them, but as for the replaced music, I strongly doubt you'll ever see the original music on DVD or anything like that. That's why the original airing rips are the best IMO.
