Actually, if a running car is you only consideration then a 1000 quid Alfa should be a fine runner. Some of the best LeMons cars have been Alfas. Only problem is finding a Alfa with the right set of problems, usually if the engines great then the electric seats won't move and only grannies can fit in the car, or you'll have a brand new engine, but because of the DIY installation it only ever runs properly at full throttle and in the top 3000RPMS, actually the GTV6 i drove was exactly like that.
