I saw the Pound decline a bit today. Maybe you could squeeze something like this into series 12? Be the rich landlord, coming to collect on the rent and throw-out the delinquent tenants!

I thought I would quantify the fact that I don't know which British manufacturers made larger, expensive, high luxury cars during the time of The Great Depression (or The Great Slump), other than Rolls Royce, and Bentley. I do admit to having a bit of an affinity for the Duesenberg, the Auburn, and the Cord, as my great grandfather worked in the Lycoming engine factory http://www.lycoming.textron.com/engi...gacy/index.jsp . Frank Lloyd Wright owned a Cord, and he designed some of the most awesome looking structures ever, Falling Water, Temple Beth Sholom, and The Guggenheim!

(sorry for that whole "Chrysler Building" thing, it surely wasn't my intention to mislead anyone with my terrifyingly bad memory)
The Cords and the Auburn Speedster are two of my favourite looking cars ever. I'm a big fan of Art Deco and they are both really typical of the period. Think that's why I love the Morgan Aeromax so much as well - shame there's no mention of it in any of the Series 12 previews so perhaps Hammond hasn't taken delivery of his yet.

Jeremy mentioned filming a Lotus Europa video that was never seen. That got me thinking, what happens to the unused footage? If it is archived and not simply thrown out, why not make something out of it for all those who would watch Top Gear even if the picture was sideways and half scrambled?

I'd like to see them test 3 small, nimble, sport cars on Madeira.
It's just a great place, with extremely beautiful scenery, and also they have upgraded most of the roads since Tiff testet the BMW Z3 in 1997 (episode 1 that year).
I go to Madeira 2-3 weeks a year, for me it's a paradise and I love renting small cars and drive around the island, so would be great seeing the chaps test some small, sporty cars there.

London to the Nurburgring

Hammond and May would take a train to Brussels, then to Cologne Germany. From there May and Hammond would rent a car (under 250 HP) and drive to the ring. Clarkson would be driving the Koenigsegg CCX with Top Gear Wing. When arriving at the ring, each team would have to complete a lap around the ring (in there respective vehicles) and meet at the finish line. The winner is the first to cross the line.

I like this idea! could go right down to the wire if the trains are timed right

heres an idea
and a rather simple one
im surprised they havent done it already

why not have a speed trap at the follow through?

measure the cars speed as it passes
and maybe even have a leaderboard for it
itd be interesting
because id like to see what the veyron did through the tyres in comparison to the zonda, and other cars too

I know I've said this a few times before, but I'm begging now Please, please, please, I can't say please enough. Please test the Porsche Panamera, the BMW X1, and the Lamborghini Estoque on the course of La Carrera Panamericana Mexican road race. http://www.panamrace.com/ I'll do anything you could think of asking me if you'll do this! (short of killing myself etc. lol)

Got to thinking about this, and the X1 would be a stupid choice. I'm not really sure what possessed me to think/type that. Ep.4 reminded me that Aston Martin is considering the Rapide in this class of saloon, and I have a post below about the "cancelled" BMW CS

Update: I'd like to correct myself, I had a memory lapse and meant the X6

Edit: maybe they could stop by the Michoacán Monarch Biosphere Reserve

It's probably been posted, but I haven't checked the whole thread.

How about a challenge to shoehorn a V8 into a small convertible or targa like an MG, Fiat, MR2, or a Fiero? Hell how about an old Merc SL? I'm thinking of something similar to the Monster Miata, and as a tribute to the Shelby Cobra V8 in an AC chassis. Maybe the 3 guys could each make their own and have a series of challenges to see <phhhhhhhht> which is best... in the world.

I think that a Detroit engine should be used (for current events credit crunch crisis sake). You could add little twists like using variable displacement engines from the Chevy Monte Carlo. Or perhaps rig up hybrid power to a HEMI. Jeremy's would have nitro and funny car modifications for maximum machismo.

The process should be uber ghetto for comedic effect. So should the chassis. The more rust the better. This would make the challenge more intriguing - especially for the "how hard could it be?" - ness.

That's what I'd like to see.

Also how about salvaging the flailing SIARPC segment with their old formula of funny people who actually like to drive cars insanely? Ian Wright is the prototype here. As well, less plugging please. Ever since the Pink Floyd guy loaned his Enzo to TG, it's been stiff promo interviews from disinterested guests.

I've really liked SIARPC this series.

I wanted to reference my previous post in this thread, in that the BMW CS would be a much better choice if they decide to make it after all.

I think that what I miss the most from the SIARPC of old is the enthusiasm and competitiveness that stars used to bring. I like the guests to care about enhancing the show, like Jay Kay, Coogan, or Jamie Oliver did. Or if they aren't petrolheads, at least have a good time like the two lovely newsreaders did on s11e04.

When this show was smaller, it was just guests having a laugh instead of a marketing campaign. Maybe seriously screen guests who don't fit the profile of top gear fans. Like if they don't like having the Stig drive them around in their own car real fast, give 'em the boot.

They should get Jodie Kidd back for a SIARPC! Agree with you tho, they should either get some people interrested in cars or drop the segment.

Coincidentally, Jodie Kidd is who I had in mind when I made the comment about having stars driven fast around the track in their own cars. She had such a great attitude. I mean gum ball rallyer. Awesome.

I think that they should do a cheap car challenge on SUVs like they all have to buy A SUV for 5 grand and see what they come up with.

Or maybe they should get a car that each of them has said was not very good and set them a series of challenges to prove whether they are good or bad.

Tom Ford has a blog about all this on the Top Gear website.

Do the whole Smart Diablo-Hayabusa engine thing, but put a turbo on it from Mr. Turbo, to bring it to 300hp.
http://www.mrturbo.com/turbo_systems/kit_main.html

+ YouTube Video
ERROR: If you can see this, then YouTube is down or you don't have Flash installed.

There is also the Hayabusa engined Golf
+ YouTube Video

And the Northstar MR2 http://www.v8mr2.com/

The T-Rex has the engine from a Kawasaki ZX-14, and that is pretty neat too.

I'm not sure how to put this together, but you guys seem to be pretty good at taking an okay idea of mine throwing out chunks of it, and making it into something polished and shiny. I think I'd really like to see some real world tests of these cars, as the people in the videos make them look like the cars can perform quite well.

It would also be interesting to see what happens when you turbocharge the Hayabusa engine in an XTR, though I'm not sure that would make a good show.

Edit: It would be funny to put a Smart Diablo up against a Brabus Smart http://www.roadandtrack.com/article....rticle_id=7265

Further Edit: I completely forgot about the VW Bus people putting 911 engines in their buses.

I'm sorry I don't have a decent link for this, though I do remember seeing something about it in a gumball rally video

This truck http://mycxt.com/internationl_mxt.html I was going to say "driven through Kashmir to the Himalayas" but that's kind of off the table for now, unless you're suicidal. Perhaps from British Columbia into part of Alaska, or through some dense jungle in South America.

Production was discontinued in September I guess, but it is still cool.

No idea if this has been suggested but here goes.

Another cheap car race but across eastern europe.

Rules
Car has to be russian/eastern european ie trabant, lada, vaz, gaz, moscovich
1000 euros (plenty for the cars we're talking about)

Race starts in East Berlin Germany at the wall and ends maybe in Talin estonia or maybe even moscow (too far maybe?)

I'm not sure about what challenges to give the three along the way maybe a challenge to test the duribility as these cars are built to last!

I think it'd be one of the best race episodes simply for the dangerous roads/drivers and the cars they'd be driving.
