Top Gear trio DID train for Arctic Challenge

Laddish presenters Jeremy Clarkson and James May made the trip to the top of the world in a Toyota Hilux while Richard Hammond - still recovering from the horrific high speed crash which almost killed him - raced them on a dog sled.

Hannah, a Londonderry dentist, who in May became the first Irishwoman ever to scale Mount Everest, showed the lads the ropes in January, but the episode has only just aired in the UK.

She said that the fun-loving trio soon realised just how tough their journey would be.

"It was certainly different," she said.

"We did training in Austria and Norway. I am normally out there at that time of year anyway and it is nice to be able to pass on skills.

"They were great craic and obviously their focus is on making entertaining television, they didn't really appreciate the environment at first, but as the training intensified, they soon learned.

"We took them up the mountain - they were used to cold, but not the extreme weather, and taught them things like pitching a tent and why they should never take their gloves off.

"The show was a really interesting concept."

She said that the presenters all had their own unique personalities.

"They are all characters, all unique in their own way. I think they did find it very difficult, their expectations were very different. But people are always pushing the boundaries."

Hannah certainly pushed her own boundaries training the team.

"After the training finished, I had to go to the airport, sleep overnight, catch a flight and then go straight to a cross-country running competition.

"At the time I was wondering what was worse - doing that or training that lot! But it was brilliant fun."

Of course they trained for it! They showed some of it with Jezza being pushed into the freezing water and pitching the tent and stuff.

P.S. What the hell does craic mean?

Not surprised they got more training than was shown. The BBC wouldn't let them go without lots of training and lots of Health and Safety bullshit.
