I think I belong to the wait and see brigade. I hope someone form the North American members can do a torrent, I would really like to make up my own mind.

US shows are the Ford/GM/Chrysler of TV, very popular, rarely hitting the heights that the BBC can hit, but then again with mass appeal - and are entertaining which is what you want if your requirement is only to keep investors happy. The US has an industry, UK and to be fair everyone else has a cottage industry.
