Default What do you think about releasing the TG magazine every month?

I've been mulling over getting a subscription to the Top Gear magazine for a month or so now. The only problem is that I'm in the US. In the great US of A, the subscription is ~200 bucks for one year. We released copies of it on here in the past after I begged and pleaded a member to do it, but that resource has since dried up.

If there is a demand for it, I will do my best to get a subscription, then scan each and every page into a pdf for download both on here and on the tracker. If this is something you think would be a great addition to the site, let me know.

Rock the vote.

There's a fair amount of stuff in there that isn't on the show or website. There's a lot of nice reviews and articles as well as editorials. The last one I have has a review on the Ascari KZ-1 done by FG's own Tom Ford. There was also an article in which they showed the Veyron to the designer of the McLaren F1 and it had his insight/thoughts about it.

There's lots of interesting/random/fascinating stuff. I'm just wondering if anyone else would be interested in reading it each month.

I agree with what Viper has said in the past about this - out of respect to the TG crew I don't think we should publish it here. It's different to the TV show in that most of us have access to the magazine if we wish (I buy it each month, even though it's AUD11 and a month out of date).

Edit: Found the post

However, in this case, I don't mind just the Hammond article as not everyone has access to the magazine, and even if they do (like me), the mag may not show up locally for another couple weeks and who wants to wait that long for this time sensitive material? images/smilies/sad.gif

But buy the magazine, folks! images/smilies/wink.gif

Well, I try to act with total disregard as to what Viper has to say.

I'm thinking about doing this for the large population of US viewers who don't have access to the magazine (like myself). For us it's 200/yr and theres a lot of good stuff I thought we might all like *shrug*.

The sell the Magazine at Borders in U.S

I buy it every month, the problem is that it arrives here 2-3 weeks later than the UK release. By then most of the articles are online, but I still read it in the mag. It's good to have something entertaining to read when there is no access to a computer or you have free time. As for scanning every page of the magazine, I don't think there is a person who can do all that for every magazine issue.

I guess I just have to deal with the wait for the new magazine, although it is very frustrating. I wonder if I actually get a subscription from Top Gear, would they arrive here faster than the Borders copies, probably not. Plus it aint worth the saving of $15/year.

I agree with Viper. Out of respect for the publishers and staff who make ALL the Top Gear stuff possible, if you want the content either read it on the website or pay for the magazine. Many of us don't have a choice if we want to watch the TV show, we have to copy it.. but everybody can get access to the magazine.

No, it's not cheap, but it really is worth it.

Hello all

At the risk of cries of 'well, you would say that', I think putting the mag up here is a bad idea. You all know the legalities of it, so I'm not going to preach those at you, all I would say is that virtually all the content from the magazine is available at www.topgear.com

So, while I sympathise with those of you who currently don't have a local version available (and believe me, we're doing everything we can to correct that), there is an option that gets you 90% of the way there.

I think the best idea would be for a downloadble pdf so that people can save it or print it - like a monthly release or so straight off the top gear site

autosport.com does it.... granted they're more of a newsie and analysis type magazine, but it could work with top gear.
