It really sounded insane... 580hp in a tvr car... reminds me of the speed 12... not the cerbera one...

You can find out more info about this on Pistonhead's forums.

Basically, the Typhon runs too hot as a result of the supercharger, and in preliminary tests, the engine actually melted images/smilies/eek.gif

As a result, it's safe to say the Typhon has been scrapped, although the normally-aspirated T440 should be on sale by the time you read this. (Some bloke on the Pistonheads forums already owns a silver one.)

Hope this helped.

Huge TVR fan, I am not sure about all te details of this Russian buyout but i hope they keep going the way they have over the years. Am i right in thinking that they re slightly more reliable these days ? even before the Russian Business boy (as refered to) We test drove one about six years ago the big engine cerbera, It wouldn't even start and when it did back fire after back fire. But and this is a big BUT, Once it got going and we took it out one of the best things i ever been in the vibration and feel is unbelievable... such fun !

The engine melted?! images/smilies/lol.gif
You're right LozRiva, at least according to Jeremy Clarkson on the Sagaris review!
I think that old tvr's were just silly cars that provided real fast sensations images/smilies/lol.gif
The new russian admin tries to inject some real car detail, trying to make it an "every day sports car"... And I think they achieved it with the sagaris in MHO...

^there's no such thing as an "everyday sports car" that has no ABS. besides, TVRs are road legal race cars, they're not built for everyday!

Its a real shame the engine melted, cause I remeber reading a thing about it (I think before the buyout) in evo magazine, and apparently the engine from the typhon would have actually fitted in the sagaris images/smilies/biggrin.gif Now that would be hardcore!

Update: The Typhon as a model is dead, but the T440R is going to be rebadged as the Typhon and sold for 80,000 pounds.
