I remembered this, when watching [01x02]. What I'm talking about is the on screen information on speed, track place, G-forces etc during the Stig's powerlaps.
Why did they get rid of it very quickly? Was it like their original plan of spraying the track with water for every powerlap, then realising how expensive it was? Were they renting the equipment? This is what I'm talking about: (taken from the Ford Focus RS lap)

I always figured it was so they could cut together parts of different laps to get the best TV lap.

About the only part I'm interested in is how fast The Stig gets the cars up to and where he gets it to that speed on the track (most likely aroudn the Follow through area).
Just curious as to what speeds he gets each car too is all. |

it is because they used to show the whole lap but now they only show part of it will clips from the known parts then say the time at the end with a more dramatic effect

They should have kept the map and the speedometer and the map + position (and perhaps g-forces to say how good it corners) but the time should be a surprise yeah. and the direction of the g-forces isn't really nessesary (or whatever that graph was)

Most likely, its because its just boring for the most people. Like, OMG, did you just see he got 0.26Gs in that corner? I bet that will affect his exit speed...yawn

you'd be surprised how many know-it-all's we have here that would probably claim they could do it better (and some of them don't even know how to drive)

It's way too much information, I'm actually glad they only used it once.

I hated the on-screen info. Too messy. I like the way it is now, with just the car and the lap time given at the end.

I prefer how it is now. Much more suspenseful.
