    When will Season 19 start?

    Hello all,

I am new to the forum. I am a huge Top Gear fan, and when I mean Top Gear, I don't mean the knock-off USA version, even though I live in the States.

Unless you're talking about new Top Gear, which I have no idea.

No one has any idea except guesses based on when previous seasons have returned.

There is no replacement for displacement.
    - Wolfgang Bernhard, then Chief Operating Officer, Chrysler Group talking about the Dodge Viper SRT-10
... I ask Herb Helbig, vehicle synthesis manager for SRT and a member of the original Team Viper development group since day one, if they'd ever thought of adding traction control. "It comes with two," he says, pointing at my feet. "Learn to use them." Got it.

Probably Mid July/August - if previous years are to go by.

Most probably around the end of June (that's when all the summer series' of TG started for the last 4 years).

    Series 11: June 22, 2008
    Series 13: June 21, 2009
    Series 15: June 27, 2010
    Series 17: June 26, 2011
    Series 19: June 24, 2012 (do I get a prize if I'm right? )

The 3rd or 4th weekend of June has sort of been the norm, but this summer is a bit different: Olympics on TV. Olympics hosted in London, which must mean super special coverage by the BBC.

Exactly. There is no way they're going to be on during the Olympics, even with iPlayer.

I think it will be either an August or September start. Possibly even early October.

I believe Dunsfold has applied to be an official overflow airfield for the Olympics. They wouldn't be able to film if that was going on - all the extra security and such like.
Plus, Andy asked someone at the last filming what they would now be doing for 6 months until the next series.!
Plus, SniffPetrol (Richard Porter) tweeted that it would be impossible to film everything needed for a series for a summer start date.

TopGear's 10th Birthday will be on the 20th October - it would be quite nice to think they would be on air then - unless they miss the anniversary as they did with the 100th episode.

Definitely an Autumn start date in my opinion.

Plus, they all have other things going on, other series to make, books to write etc etc - there's a third series of Manlab and I'm sure Hammond has some irons in the fire.

Well, with the Olympics running from July 27th to August 12th, they could easily get 5 or even 7 episodes in even before the Olympics start (5 if S19 starts June 24th, 6 if on June 17th and 7 if on June 10th).

I agree with Whitevanwoman; it would be great if this year's summer TG series is skipped so they can start in October to celebrate their 10th year (and so they can go back to starting in the Autumn and Spring/Summer). I also agree on the fact that there isn't much time between now and the end of June, so more time to film a great 10th anniversary series would be even better.

June is way too soon. There's no way they could operate with a 3 month gap.

This article/interview regarding the upcoming series Planet Earth Live mentions TG won't return before 2013. It's not clear if it's something the reporter asked Richard or if it's just a prediction.

The motoring series, which he presents alongside Jeremy Clarkson and James May, returns for a 19th run next year.

Top Gear Live has been moved this year from the middle/end of November, as it has been for many years, to October 25th-28th (NEC only). Last year it was on during November 10th-13th (NEC) and also 25th-27th (Excel). Wonder if that's part of the equation? Clear November for recording the series? I hope it's not going to be that late in the year.

It's a shame they're not using the usual NEC dates, as in the past the Classic Car show has been on the same weekend so there's been masses to see.

I think the assumption that everything stops for the Olympics this summer seems to be correct. Maybe it'll be a longer series when it comes back, and maybe there'll be a special or two. And we'll have a couple of the presenters' other shows to compensate.
