Which Top Gear 911 do you like more?

Top Gear Porsche 911 Turbo, Porsche Carrera 4S or Porsche 911 Carrera?

Since Top Gear dog or Huskies? thread was closed I would ask which 911 do you like more?!

This is because off Jensked desire: "Top Gear Topless lady would be much cooler"! I hope he likes it! images/smilies/tongue.gif

I still have almost no idea what the differences are between all the 911s. Maybe if they looked a little different, it'd be easier to remember and distinguish.

It's not that hard. 4 exhaust means Carrera S and 2 means standard Carrera. The Carrera4 and Carrera4S have the same distinction, the 4's are a tiny bit wider than the Carrera but that's hard to notice at all. The Cabriolets are easy enough to spot (they are convertibles!). The Turbo has a larger air intake area in the front with LED's, various slits right behind the doors and at the rear next to exhausts (there are 2 exhaust and they are enclosed in bodywork), plus there is a large rear wing. The GT3 has different bodywork at the front and rear with a completely different wing than the Turbo and has a 2 exhausts in the center. The GT3RS has a wider, black wing along with a slightly modified front end from the GT3 and it says its an GT3RS in big letters on the side. Those are the major visual cues. There are differences in the wheels in pretty much all of these, but wheels could be changed so I didn't mention those. So they all do look different, and except the Carrera4, are very visibly distinct.

Hehe, every car should have a girl standing next to it explaining it in 'basic english'. images/smilies/wink.gif

The Golf should have Paris Hilton next to it because everyone has had a ride...ah forget about that idea.

Can't i take all three of them? Test drive... images/smilies/wink.gif

Pity they didn't put some variously proportioned "Adams" in as well - just to make the difference clear for us non-dudes. images/smilies/wink.gif

All I saw was blah blah blah.....when it takes this many words for such tiny differences, it shows Porsche's exact problem.

Problem? What problem?

Porsche have been selling 911s like hotcakes... Last year they sold over 30 000 of them.

Um...*ehem* ...deciding purely on the actual car, it would be the 911 Turbo. I mean, c'mon, 50-70 MPH IN ONE SECOND!!!

lol, "it's easy!" he says...and then proceeds to write War and Peace images/smilies/lol.gif

Putting it in point form is much easier on the brain...
(actually, a chart would be best, seeing at it's German and all images/smilies/lol.gif )

911 Carrera: rear-wheel-drive, N/A flat six
911 Carrera 4: four-wheel-drive, N/A flat six
911 Carrera 4S: four-wheel-drive, N/A flat six, 911 turbo body kit
911 Turbo: four-wheel-drive, turbo-charged flat six, 911 turbo body kit
911 GT2: rear-wheel-drive, N/A flat fix, big rear wing
911 GT3: like the GT2, but more and harder, bigger rear wing
911 GT3RS: a GT3, but lighter and harder

It does, two of them actually. And the Carrera4 no longer looks like the Turbo, I would say that the GT2 is "more and harder" than the GT3 is.

Here we go, in more graphical terms:
Standard Carrera vs Turbo: The main visual difference is the intakes between the doors and the rear wheels.
Std:
http://www.sedancity.com/images/porsche-911-carrera-s.jpg

Turbo:
http://www.autosrapidos.com/superautos/p/porsche-911turbo01.jpg

The difference between the Standard Carrera and the 4 is that the 4 is wider at the back, and 4 wheel drive. It can be hard to tell, but the 4 has a general "curvy-ness" to it in the hips, but it can be easy to miss. The Carrera looks more sleek and long, where the 4 looks lightly more squat and muscular...slightly.
Carrera

Carrera 4
http://www.ellsworthamerican.com/archive/2005/12-22-05/wheelsc_12-22-05.jpg

The GT3 is just a super light version, and the GT2 is that pretty much-the-same super light version with a turbo. On the last few versions anyways, where the front edge of the hood meets the front "bumper" there is a strip of black. Don't know what it does, but there you go.

Oh, and the Targa is easy to spot because the back window line finishes differently on the side. It comes down to a point, rather than the rounded corner:
Carrera, Standard roof:
