what's cool about richard? only thing i can pick out is his affinity for american muscle cars despite his coworker(s)'s aversion to them. richard understands what they're about, and he also isn't afraid to proclaim his love for american muscle.

Yea exactly. Hammond isn't cool. Cool is hard to define, but you can't be cool and be a normal guy, you have to have something special about yourself. Richard Hammond is just a TV presenter.
