another thing that makes astras and vectras rubbish around corners (which adds to the understeer) are their rubbish chassis(es?).

I think Top Gear would disagree with 2 vehicles and their performance variations. The Cadillac CTS, CTS-V, and the Chevy Corvette and Corvette Z06.
