Ofcourse they will test it, and hopefully against the RS4.

But it's launch is set to summer 2007, with a Geneva concept preview I think, so it's just to early to tell when they will test it. Late september would be my guess.

Well this seems like a pretty pointless thread. Who knows if they will test it, but I'm pretty sure they will as it would be stupid for them not to test such a big new car.

We'll see, if it can keep traction, or if it will just wag with its tail and slide through the corners.

Hard to tell when TG will test a car that hasn't even been publicly revealed yet. I'm sure they'll not only test it, but against other cars in the segment (Audi RS4, MB C63 AMG, Lexus IS-F, etc.) TG has featured concept cars on the program before an official release, but they've always been after the car appeared at an auto show or at least had official pictures released. Who knows. I wouldn't hold my breath though.

I'm holding my breath.....M3 of the past have all been amazing and after Audi set the bar SO high with the RS4 BMW have to push the envelope as much as they can to keep up. I'm soooooooo looking forward to that!

Change rules? It's a well sorted sports coupé with RWD and a V8, where's the changing of rules?

It will be amazing, I'm sure, but not in the same way that there's a difference between a Ferrari Enzo and a Golf GTI.

Horsepower numbers alone no longer impress me. In the States, you can get a Pontiac GTO (Holden/Vauxhall Monaro) with 400hp for under $30k. Cars these days have to compete on something else, and while I do believe the upcoming 2008 M3 will be quite a machine, there's plenty of competition:

Audi RS4: 420hp
Lexus IS-F: 400+ hp
MB C63 AMG: 450hp

These are already incredible power numbers, so when the new M3 comes around, it'll seem commonplace to have 400hp (crazy as it sounds). I'm the biggest BMW fanboy and think the M3 will be the greatest car in the world, but sadly, I know there won't be any rule rewriting.

That said, Edmunds recently ran the 300hp BMW 335i coupe from 0-60mph in 4.8 secs...and that was the automatic version. The new M3 may just yet have a few hidden tricks up its sleeve. Can't wait!

If you think the current RS4 is all that, just wait until the next gen B8 RS4 comes along. The platform will be RWD biased as opposed to the current FWD biased platform finally fixing the one thing that has dogged Audis this whole time: the engine waaaay up front of the car. Even still, the current RS4 is praised. Scary to think what the next one will be like.

Is there to be a convertible M3? It should rock with the folding metal roof.

You betcha! There's also a rumored sedan version.

To keep on topic: I can see a TG test between the coupe and convertible going head to head like they did with the Ferrari F430's.

Nice, the black looks like a super sleeper. I'm not sure about a sedan M3 again... to me the M3 should be a two-door... also because I think the rear of the sedan 3 looks like it has down syndrome. images/smilies/tongue.gif

That's interesting, I think. Remember, the E39 M5 had 400bhp. That one class higher.

Isn't the B7 RS4 biased with 60 % power to the read, 40 % to the front? That's my impression. images/smilies/smile.gif

The RS4 is the best, because it can be used on wet roads, on snowy and icy roads, because it has four doors, because it's better looking.

The S4 with 50/50 power distro and 344bhp was faster in the corners than the E46 M3, that says it all in my mind. The RS4 would be my choice.
