Default Would anyone like to see TopGear visit Australia?

Hi everyone,

We on the TopGear forum ( http://www21.sbs.com.au/topgearforum/index.php ) provided by the Australian station that shows TopGear (SBS) are hoping to drum up some interest in the possibility of TopGear taking a trip here to Australia. Last series they went to America and it was a great episode. Were hoping they would consider a visit to Australia in the future. Who would like to see that?

They could test General Motors' new "zeta" large car platform, the Commodore, also going to be sold as the Pontiac G8 and the Vauxhall VXR8. They could race each other across Australia. They could even let the Stig settle Australia's longest running debate- which is better? Holden (GM) or Ford?

Lay off the advertising please. Asking people to help convince Top Gear to take a trip to Australia is one thing, but trying to get people to leave this forum for that one is another.

And to be honest, if you want Top Gear to visit Australia, best place to make your case is here, not on that forum. After all, the Top Gear production crew actively reads these forums. images/smilies/wink.gif

Meh, don't get me wrong, I really like Australia and I've been there for 5 weeks and enjoyed every second of it. But somehow I feel there isn't anything interesting enough there, carwise...

They didn't look at even one new car when they went to America but it was still a great episode to watch. But carwise, they could compare the Aussie Holden Commodore and Ford Falcon with their Euro equivelents, the Vectra and the Mondeo.

I wouldn't mind seeing it, but more for the country than the Aussie version of Ford and GM's cars.

I would like to see an endurance race through the outback.

Each presenter will get an expert and a budget. They will have to work with their expert to pick a vehicle, modify it if needed and purchase any spares or provisions they will need. The race should last at least a couple of days, if not longer.

I'd love to see The Stig run some Ozzie V8's around Bathurst - Oh yes I would. Yes love to see the guys going through the outback in Chelsea Tractor 4x4s and making comments like - the school is just - well about 200 miiles up the road actually. ...

I wouldn't because it's about as unoriginal as you can get, the outback is really boring and looking at sand for an hour doesn't really interest me.

If thats the bit from "Motorworld" that you're talking about, I was surprised at how uninformative it was. There is so much more to Australia than the dusty bit he visited. He didn't even look at any Aussie cars in "Motorworld".

Another boys own adventure to Oz could be fun, but maybe in one or two series' time. The big films are fun, but I think it may be too much novelty, what with them having to introduce a new track & etc with the next series.

Thinking about it...... I would like to see the boys travel down the East Coast... from Townsville, through Brisbane and the Gold Coast, past Sydney then travel inland and stop at the capital (Canberra) with challenges along the way.

Or start at Sydney, travel down the rest of NSW into Victoria, along the coast to Melbourne, along the Great Ocean Road, the up to Adelaide.
