Yes... That's how it looks. I really wondered how they can save life with this.

Earlier I thought that our diesel powered (often quite old) big VWs or Mercs are slow, but now I know they aren't so bad.

Do they always drive that slow? Judging by the videos on youtube: yes they do. And they have freakish pre-recorded voices (of teen highschool girls of course) that plays when they exit the station or want people to move.

Garbage trucks have this. One sentence reapeted non stop again, again and again. My Japanese is crap, so I don't know what she was saying but like you said - it's freaky.

As you can find in the internet, Japan is often quite weird for us Europeans, but it's great place and this weirdness only makes visit there more interesting.

You really can't go fast in Tokyo traffic. Just the other day I saw an ambo pull up behind traffic at the lights and with no way around he switched off the siren and waited for the lights to change.

They don't use the pre-recorded voices so much, the co-driver gets on the loud speaker and starts yelling at people to get out of the way.

They say "turning left/right" and I'm pretty sure they come on automatically with the indicators. Very annoying when the guy is sitting at a red light.

What's worse is the garbage trucks that play music and an announcement telling you they're doing their job, one used to wake me up once a week. Arseholes.

Oh, and the voices are grown women, but in Japan 30 year olds look/sound like 13 year olds and vice versa.

Just a question of curiosity speedycatz-san: Is your Cayman S a LHD, or a RHD?

It's RHD. Much more convenient because I drive it quite often.

The ambulances in United States are required to have at least 14 flashing lights.

Speaking of ambulance this is from 04 I think, the first time I went to Japan.

I went to the NISMO Festival of Speed on Sunday, first time to Fuji Speedway, nice facility. Not a bad day. I could have spent it in the carpark - never seen so many GT-Rs in my life! You wouldn't believe it unless you saw it. Got to see some interesting machinery, a couple of parade laps and a couple of short, friendly races.

Here are some pics, starting with some cars I spotted in the carpark (seriously would have spent a couple of hours walking around them if I'd had the time)...

This is when we were waiting to get out of the carpark, seriously took us hours... then by the time we got onto the highway (hours later) traffic was hardly moving - 30km in 90min said the sign! Argh this place sucks sometimes.
