Reply on Haz: Nope, not even near Amsterdam (for american standards I live next door (about 150km/90miles)) but no it's not that bad, bad wheather 75% of the year...not really much to complain about, except for the cars! No exotics here, I saw like 2 ferraris and this Viper, never seen a lambo on the road...it's really dissapointing...maybe in Amsterdam you'll see some nice cars but it's not that spectacular as in Germany or the USA.
Reply on Justin: Yeah Chocolate Sprinkles..those are my favourite! I haven't seen Jeremey talking about Holland, he probably talked about "Drop" (don't know what's the word in english) about the bad wheather, the flat landscape, we building below sealevel, the cows, tullips, windmills, and the Coffeeshops with the legal drugs-thing....that's about everything you can say about Holland, in the Summer it's nice, nice people, having a beer having a chat with everybody on the streets.
I think it's more fun for the people who don't live here, checking if all the stories are true...it's kind of normal, almost boring if I see those spectacular mountains in the US/Canada/ where ever you like...
That's why I don't understand why it's crawling with Germans here every year...

btw. I'm watching the new TG episode right now, it's gonna be good!

we use chocolate sprinkles too but mainly on ice cream and cakes, not really on pancakes or other stuff. mainly on sweets.

it seemed to me in the ep that you guys really put it on alot of things.

do you know how it started or when?

Do you guys eat rusk with blue (boy) or pink (girl) prinkles when a baby is born?
When a teacher had a baby we always got "Beschuit met muisjes" (rusk with "mice")...don't know why we call them mice...maybe because they're so small or something. In english it's called "aniseed". And then we have white powder we call "smashed mice" when you think about it too seriously it's a bit strange, but that powder is awesome! I eat it every day!
That started in the 17th century together with the Chocolate sprinkles.
Those sprinkles were invented by "De Ruyter"...

You can even order and ship it:
http://www.hollandbymail.nl/venz_de_...nkleslist.html

I don't know why it is so populair here, I do know that it started in 1890. Hendrik de Vries started a factory to produce chocolate and sugarstuff. In 1928 Venz (Vries EN Zonen = VENZ..."en zonen" means "and sons".) became a bigger company with 4 factories already. In 1930 they build a big factory in Vaassen (They still make it there) and in 1936 they began making the Chocolate sprinkles. In the 1960s Venz stopped at making sugarstuff and candy and they only made chocolatestuff now. Nobody knows how they came with that idea but it's for sure they began with the idea. Now there are several companies making the sprinkles in almost every flavour you like.

Smashed mice ...Look closely and you'll see "Gestampte muisjes"

Yeah that "ritual" when a baby is born is kinda serious and almost everybody does it. No matter where you come, farmers, rich folks...they all do it.

Yeah you should! Try the Smashed Mice / mashed aniseed(Oh I like that )
De Ruyter and Venz are the best you can get.

And tons it'll gonna be, the more the better! Most of the time it is sprinkles with bread instead of bread with sprinkles

Nothing beats hagelslaag (sp?) on bread I come from a Dutch background, so I ate and eat plenty of it.

Oh, and back on topic, I saw a gorgeous RX8 today. It was silver, and had a very nice body kit on it - I'm not sure if it's a MazdaSpeed thing or not, but it was very clean, not outrageous, and really set the car off. I let it slowly pass me on the highway so I could get a good look at it

Yes, surprisingly.

And I think we need a topic split, this is getting way too OT.

I worn them a couple of years ago when I lived in a stupid farmersvillage...and when you use them regularly they become comfortable, I wouldn't say "very" but they are very practical, you can drive over your own foot, and it's painless

Yeah topic: "Talk about cultural things"
