Front and back acutally look like they´ve made an efford to make something with charakter (note: I´m not saying good looking!) ... but then in between it´s the usual toyota blandness. Same with the interior.

Let's copy an i30 and make it ugly.

It's like somebody has riced their Prius and Toyota put it on sale.

Do not want, the old model is considerably nicer, if just as bland.

I dont like this. At all. It looks like a chinese Kia Ceed clone.

Oh and Toyota, wake me up when youre able to make an interior that's not shit. You disgust me.

              Love, Ricky

So Rick doesn't like it. Therefore, there has to be some redeeming factor to this car...

                (scans interior, considers body kit)

...no. No, there isn't a single redeeming feature about this car. Take it away, please.

It's less inoffensive than the current one. But that's not saying much. Hopefully this one is better made, I was very disappointed with the Auris rental we had in Adelaide a while ago. On looks alone I prefer this to the Mazda3 which has become the new Corolla in this country.

And for gods sake, they need to stop using the switchgear out of a 1988 Cressida. If they do that, it'll improve it dramatically.

hah indeed. it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if it had a "microwave" clock some where

                      Me either.

In the 2010 Auris I instantly recognised the console mounted passenger seatbelt warning light that was exactly the same as the one in the 1998 Starlet my grandfather used to have. The electric window switch was the same as the one as in my brother's 1986 Celica. The HVAC controls and stereo were the same as my dad's stripper spec Hilux. All hideous light grey plastic, all flimsy feeling, and all the buttons were marked with CAPITAL TEXT in a hideous font. It's a shame because it could have been a good interior, very airy in the cabin even if the boot was ridiculously small.

Why is it that Toyota can't do "inexpensive" when it comes to interiors? Other automakers go out of their way to at least not make things appear desperately cheap and give some sort of ambiance, minimal though it might be, that doesn't make the owner want to reach into his knife drawer for something to end it all. Take the VAGinas, for instance; Skodas do have a cheap look to their interiors, but there are always visual clues that they're well-put-together and touches here and there of quality in terms of build and materials. Scions, meanwhile, have interiors with the charm of a Turkish public toilet.

Anything below a Corolla on the Toyota food chain just makes you start thinking of where your life went wrong when you get behind the wheel and have a look. I think that this explains why the Camry sells so well in the US and the UK; UKanians like to be miserable, while USians have this sneaking suspicion that they don't deserve anything better than what they're getting.

Actually the current gen corolla is godawful to sit in as well. It's embarrassing, considering the Corolla's "baby lexus" rep so many years ago. To drive? it'll serve the purpose of commuting well but isnt inspiring by any means.

The Camry isn't sold in the UK. They have the Avensis for when they're miserable and dying.

Cars are getting so bland and yet, uniquely hideous, that I can't even tell what other car this car looks exactly like.

This is on the same ugly-meter level as the new Civic hatch.
Seems like it has become very difficult of late to make a good looking C-segment hatch. Yet Opel, Mercedes (new A-Klasse) and Alfa Romeo seem to be able to pull it of although the last two had never made a real hatchback before.

That said I don't really mind the outgoing Auris, albeit bland it sure isn't what I'd call ugly.

I just realized that the car it looks exactly like is a '12 Camry. I had to see one on the road to realize this. I can't decide whether Toyota's new design language is more bland or forgettable...

Why do Toyota's newer cars all look so boxy, same story with the new Honda Civic, who thought this is good looking? At first I thought the new Auris was an Chinese. The old Auris looks much classyer than this! Also Green illuminated Radio an Aircon displays reminds me of an 90's Euro Escort.

They desperatly need an new Designer.

Lets put money together to buy one of these and publicly stone it to send Toyota a message. This car just makes me angry.
