Not unique by any stretch but not at all bad looking commuter either.

Definite hint of Audi A4 in the rear quarter.

Not sure about the moustache grill. Buy one in white and would look a bit like V!

        Dr Grip: Brilliant!

EyeMWing Because what fun is a silicone dick if you don't try putting it in somebody's backside at least once.

Jay IKEA now ranks up in my awesome list, quite near bacon and blowjobs.

Cowboy I've never gotten so drunk I wanted to rub one out while shoving a fire extinguisher up my ass.

Remind me never to have him round to dinner!

Looks sharp and classy, I like it. This one's supposed to be bigger than the current one, isn't it? I.e. more Passat than Golf?

That's the idea yeah, hence the introduction of the Rapid.

I like they way it looks, classy and modern without too many gimmicky styling touches. The vRS should look good too.

Don't make fun of the moustache, hairdresser-boy. I'd personally like a car that not only coordinates with my wardrobe, but also my facial hair.

Unlike the Japanese boxen of this class, this definitely has some character to it. Interior's really well-equipped. Lots of bootspace for this class. Good, clean design. And, best of all, no stigma in comparison to driving a Passat. Oh, Skoda, America wants your sweet Czech-ness.

Is it based on the Passat? The interior looks very similar but the Passat is built in Chattanooga. Looks great.

I believe it's still based on the Golf platform, albeit stretched a bit.

Welcome to VAG. Especially interior knobs and doodads get shared up and down the range.

As for the underpinnings, it's all MQB - modular transverse building kit. Likely every Audi, VW, Skoda and Seat with transverse engines will be based on this. Note though, the MQB is designed to scale in length, width, and wheelbase. It's much more flexible than the traditional notion of a platform.

It'll be 9cm longer and 4.5cm wider than the predecessor, and supposedly up to 100kg lighter. Apparently, the GreenLine TDI is supposed to make do with 3.4l/100km (69/83mpg), 4l should be realistic. Oh, and it has an ice scraper in the fuel door

There's no such thing any more.

But all this platform sharing means that they save money on development costs and they in turn can pass the savings on to us with nice cheap cars.

                            Oh, wait.

So this is basically a rebagded Jetta/Toledo, sharing the same crappy interior and cheap rear suspension (or the other way round), right?

                                Not really.

Also, only those with more powerful engines get the multi link rear suspension

So far A3 Mk3, León Mk3, Mk7 and Octavia Mk3 have been produced on the new platform

Gotcha, I forgot about the MQB.

                                      Should have known!

This is the VW that everyone who hates VWs (read: me) likes. I wouldn't touch a Golf GTI, but I'd give my left nut for a chance to drive an Octavia vrS.
