Random Thoughts... [Automotive Edition]

You are not helping. I need a Roadmaster with a somewhat solid body so I can pull my trailers.

But an XJS would make a great weekend car.

How about its sibling?

Or did you want a sedan? There's tons of those here.

And those are just the ones in Dallas not running around on dubs or tubs.

I am not opposed to it's siblings, but prefer the Buick in a sedan. I have looked at some or those before too. It the trip down and back would hurt the budget.

Also, that one on the trailer is the one I think tossed the timing chain.

Plenty of them down here, with or without tubs. Hell, they MADE them here in DFW, the Arlington GM plant.

Greyhound from De-Riot to Dallas is $125, but takes 29 hours.
Southwest Airlines is $253 and only takes ~4 hours.
Shipping a car from here to there is about $600-800.

On the other hand, local ones will have basically no rust and usually will be in good shape structurally.

Keeping your sanity while travelling by not being on a bus for 29 hours = priceless. :D

The funny part is that the Amtrak train from Detroit to Dallas (coach class) costs $160 and takes about the same time. Plus has an even more uncomfortable seat. :p

Lug nuts for an X100 XK8 (for my winter wheels) are $12 new. Screw that; just got a full set of used ones for $3 each from a parts dealer.

Science, FUCK YEAH!

Wings of steel

By manipulating the structure of steel on a nanometre scale, Dr Kim has produced a material which has the strength and the lightness of titanium alloys but will, when produced at scale, cost a tenth as much.

Are you looking then for a Roadmaster with the towing package?

Apparently, there are still unsold 2012 Lexus LF-As out there.

"Dear Santa..."

Preferably. It doesn't need to be the wagon's 7,000 pounds, the sedan's 5,500 will suffice. Not that I would turn down the right wagon.

I need to move to the south. Cops and regular folk love speed.

I'm in Pell City, AL for a job and this morning I was getting ready to fly home only to get told that I need to drive to greenvile, sc. Hour away from the job I get told to forget it and turn around. Between the Georgia-Alabama boarder in Georgia, cops are out like crazy, Alabama? Didn't see a single one, even at the on ramps. 80-90mph was the norm and I would still get passed. What am I doing up North?

Depends on how frequently they've been starting it and changing out fluids. If my salary was 2-3x what it is now I would be seriously tempted to go over there and haggle with them. If they had a SportKombi I'd be on the next flight.

This. I just passed a 2011 9-5 today...still a head turner.

Too bad it was an underdeveloped hurried release and they've got some serious problems. Which, as there's essentially no more dealers, can be a problem in and of itself.

True. I guess further up in the northeast, there's more chances for better after-sales support with em given their penchant for Saab and Volvo stuff.

By the way, 2006 Taurus SE vs 2007 Focus SE vs 09 Accent hatch...what do you think would be the more reliable buy? I'm not in the market for anything yet, but am generally curious. The Taurus has the least miles: 96,700 to be exact.

Taurus has the explodamatic slushbox, the Focus is still the most recalled generation of car in American history and the Accent is like driving an LG refrigerator.

Why not manual swap your Accord?
