It's an ecobox! It's good for the planet! I swear!

There's a guy in Colorado that does (did?) these conversions. Legal is a stretch because, it's really the front half with the firewall that is still a G8. It's legal because of the G8 Vin.

"Yeah well you see, what it is is an Australian car with an American engine, drivetrain, dash, and vin, nono...no this was done aftermarket, yeah originaly it did have an American engine yes, just not this one....no I don't really get it either....yeah, yes I would like to register this in Belgium.....as a van yes, it's technicly a pick-up so it qualifies, yeah.... what do you mean difficult?"

I also want this one a lot. But I have the same problem as Cowboy. How to get it legal in Europe?
Should not be a problem, actually. At least German T?V does not care if it's Australian or American or mix and match as long as you can document every part that went in it. If it's a Pontiac VIN, then it has to be a Pontiac, right? :)

That's so sensible.

That 67 is gorgeous. Lots of want.

How terrible of an idea is this?

2005 Mercedes C230 6-speed manual

Very. The 1.8 Kompressor motor was not very good in US service. After a while Mercedes stopped importing it. To name just one of the many problems it has, sometimes the valves carbon up and stick open intermittently, causing misfires and power loss and, y'know, burned valves. The official Mercedes solution is to install a new head ($$$$$) though independents will just have the head rebuilt ($$$$). There is no permanent fix for the root cause and it will happen again. There's a reason the 1.8 Kompressor cars are a severely endangered species in the US.

Still, way better to drive than a Swedish Camry.
