No 56k: Something very fast.....Audi S8. Meet Walter, D-Fence's new Roninmobile.

So, long story short, I have an S8. It started as the mystery car for Ringmeet 2018, but turned into quite a love affair.

    What do we have here?

    2000 Audi S8 Facelift, 360hp 40V 4.2l V8 with a 6-Speed Manual and QUATTRO.

Apparantly super rare, this was the only manual facelift for sale in Germany. Pre-Facelift 32V ones are around as manuals, facelift ones...not so much.

Timing belt done 20k km and two years ago, all spark plugs new, front axle completely rebuilt.

    What does it have?
Mega spec. Electric memory seats front, electric single seats rear, heated seats all around, solar sunroof powering the ventilation in summer, Navigation Plus (incl. CDs from 2004), Bose sound system, PDC front and rear, Xenon, Aux heater, Aux cooler, sunshades rear sides and back. Also a detachable ow hook, just for good measure.

    What is broken?

    NOTHING ANY MORE! WEEE!

When I bought it, several things didn't work:

    - Electric headrests all around (fixed these with the same trick as on my 7 Series, shorten the rubber hoses in which the spindle drives work.

    - Rear sunshade: Swapped for a used one with Thomas and Ales (I love you two

    - This door seal. Since it is Audi, of course not available any more as new part, had to get one from Lithuania.

    - GDPO installed some shitty Hands-Free and Aux-Box. Threw it all out and installed a Bluetooth Box.

    - Brake pads front were dead (swapped, 226€ for ATE Pads without installing them, fuuuuuuu)

    - PDC is fucky. Sometimes it stops working, tried reading fault code, swapped the sensor, wiring harnes, control unit, fault remained, now old parts back in, fault gone. Meh.

Oh, it also won coolest car at Ringmeet 2018 .

So what is the plan with this thing? Honestly, no idea. I am very well aware it could eat me up any moment in repair costs, but the way this thing eats the Autobahn alive is just magical.
It glides and if required causes the nicest rumble while overtaking a lot of newer things. I guess I will keep it for now, and maybe sell to Lars at some point .

You should have gone with us on the roadtrip. The roads were quite similar to those in the video.

Seriously, that is a very cool car. Congrats, have fun with it. I'd want it if I didn't know that you will sell it only when you suspect serious problems in the near future.

Seriously nice car, loved the short drive I got in it. Congrats!

Oh man, dude... I am super jealous. That's always been my favorite of the A8/S8 body styles... it just looks so classy, especially on those wheels. Time to rip out that old head unit and throw in some CarPlay/Android Auto! Bring that car into the 21st century!

                (still jealous)

Na, the headunit stays (otherwise lots of trouble with Bose System etc.). Phone is connected via Bluetooth and has all the Nav/Music stuff I need available .

It may be fast but can it also shove a bit? Awesome find, love that gen S8 (and every gen really). Too bad we didn't get the manual version in the US.

It was seriously pissing off some Renaultsports on the Ring, they got me under braking, power and AWD pulled me round the corner and up the hill faster than them

This is an annoyingly D-Fence car.

                              Well done!

Pretty damn cool but a few questions:
                                - did you get the case?
                                - wtf is a pdc?
                                - wtf is an aux cooler/heater

That does not fit in the trunk.

                                        A standard sized thomas, however....
