New car threads MUST HAVE PROOF OF OWNERSHIP!

    Updated 5/29/2011 for rule change.

If you are posting a new thread about your car, you MUST include a photo showing your forum username. Write it on paper, cardboard, a printout of your profile page, and stick it on the gearshift of your vehicle. This is the only accepted proof shot, and must be on the vehicle you are posting.

    Example(Stolen from Adrian & Argatoga):

If you don't, the topic will be locked until you provide proof. Too many people steal photos and claim they own the vehicle. No proof, no thread.

Just out of interest, does this apply to EVERY car posted here? For instance if someone joined and claimed that he owns a 1988 Opel Kadett 1.3S (not a very special car) , would proof of ownership be required?

Posmo, I'm thinking yes for equality. For example, if i were to post a pic of my Swift, I would think I would have to do it even though my car is insanely common (at least, over here it is). That way people can't claim "oh, well these people didn't do it, so why should I have to?" Removal of all excuses makes life easier. That and it takes all of two minutes to write "Hi Finalgear, this is my car, from .....!" on a piece of paper and stick it under your windscreen wipers or something. Just my $0.02
Now rocking my Swift 2.0- louder, faster, meaner, but still my little Suzy

I think I'll make a license plate that I'll swap on. It'll keep me from having to print something out each time.

BTW, every car I've posted has been mine. I go through a lot of cars, I never can make my mind up on what I want...

I'm the same way.... I'm trying to change that though. I'm sticking with what I've got. For a while atleast.

I think this should only apply to non-shitboxes.

                I strongly disagree. Because:

I won't make a thread for my Escort, and anyway I've posted pics of my cats on it. That it's enough proof

                        But I support the idea

I totally believe Mark355 has a Zonda. No doubt about it.

Honda is only one letter away from Zonda! Figured it was close enough.

i guess when someone owns that car, he won't be bragging about it

It would also be nice if people would put something more descriptive as their thread title than "My new car", "My car", "Karhh!", or similar.

One question. Does this apply to all new photos of a car that's already been posted?

I like this rule, and I was actually wondering when we would implement it. It'll definitely cut down on, for instance, spending three pages of a Post Your Car thread trying to figure out if the OP is full of shit.
