Well, today was a long day, I'm sure you'll forgive the lack of proof pics, will get those up in the morning! After I've written this up I need sleep.
Well, here she is, my project car, part own/share with my father?, the aim being restoring it back to original. While the paint looks pretty bad, and there's plenty of age related wear and marks, the body is completely rust free, the most important part on an old Ford! Lots of pics to follow, although I've avoid most of those in the bonnet up variety.
Collecting her down in Gatwick: Before the 339 mile journey back North. (In perspective, the car had only done ~20 miles a year for the last three years).
At a service station, before any issues!
First issue, as the car cleaned out and opened up the throttle linkage became fixed open, revving it quite hard, after poking around resetting it, we, er, overheated and stalled and that's when we discovered the solenoid was a little dicky, and she wouldn't start...
Just as we were contemplating the issue, some guys with a Mk2 Escort track car arrive to save the day!
Gave her a bump, and we were off, here's another services closer to home, letting her cool down a little. The solenoid fixed itself this time, and the car fired right back up.
The Anglia then ran nice and smooth back home, no more overheating or starting issues, although there is a slight oil leak. Which is first on investigate list, then the repair list includes a new rad cap, new hoses and fixing the solenoid. (Probably the pinion just a bit seized, considering the cars lack of use). In the future: bare shell respray & body repairs.
Will clean her up and take proof pics tomorrow! (If the sun is out... ). As an aside, the attention you get in this thing is incredible, and sometimes dangerous. (I'm speaking to you, Kia Sedona in the middle lane who slowed to take pictures). On the plus side, it now runs lovely and sweet, easily cruising at 65 all day long.
?No idea how this kind of thing works on FG anymore, I recall in the past a car had to be yours for a PYC thread. Is 50% mine enough?
