Ownership Verified: Snow White

Oh indeed I forgot to name the Advantage Package and totally did not see the heated seats, staring at the position where they are in my F20 :p. Also failed to notice the .fi-mandatory headlightwashers, which are effectively exclusive to Xenon-cars in germany. Interesting that it was delivered with a swedish manual, imported?

It has Finnish manuals and all, I also wondered about that.

At least it should have spent all its youth in Finland: it was first a leasing car, then the person driving it redeemed it for him/herself and drove it until changing it to a X3. And that's where I came along.

To get the stale, hot air out of the car on a hot summer's day (I heard those exist even in Finland) before you get in. It's quite a nifty feature.
Even my car has this feature...

Yay, bread van!

Glad you like it and RWD! :D

Btw: I noticed that its not just gear.fi getting BMWs (finally, good boys), but also that especially white ones are spreading :p

the most amusing feature is the ability to open the windows with the remote control. One could ask what's the use but I'll just keep quiet and fiddle around with the settings.

how many times i've gotten out of my car, and forgot to close the windows.
but the button on the door doesn't work when the key isn't in the contact...

here comes the keyfob! just keep pressing the close button, and all windows close!

i love it! :)
never used it to open them though...

Headlight washers are mandatory on xenon equipped cars only (EU wide rule, afaik) but they are pretty common on halogen cars as well.

And the Swedish manual could very well be because the first owner was one of the 6% in Finland who has it as the first language. I would tick that box too if I ever end up with a built-to-order car, just because I could. :p

edit: lowering the windows using the remote could come in handy on a hot day. AFAIK it's a common feature on VAG and BMW since around the turn of the century. My car has it as well.

To my surprise, during cold (-10?C today) mornings this biggish diesel starts way much more easily than the petrol engine in the Volvo did. Today it didn't even cough, just hurred away happily immediately after pressing the button. Apparently BMW starts preheating the glow plugs once the door is opened, nice thinking from ze Germans!

I'll try to make some time for photoshooting today or tomorrow while the car is still white, it's already gathered some Finnish winter dirt on it.

Went for an evening cruise today to have a laugh with the RWD. I'm amazed at how well the studdless winter rubber grips on snow, it just won't shake the tail unless you really mean it. On ice on the other hand...

Is that by any chance the Citymarket of Nummela? That's half a kilometer from where I live. :p. Nice ride too bro.

Nice spotting, it sure is :p I live a bit further from it but was just cruising without destination and ended up there. Sideways.

Oh yeah, forgot to mention: the original sound system in this thing is total bullsh*t. The sound is awful and lacks any quality whatsoever. It's apparently because of the Business CD HU that isn't able to push enough power to the speakers.

I'm balancing between multiple options:
1. Upgrading the HU from Business CD to Professional CD (Too much hassle, probably not going to work plug/play according to the interwebs)
2. Keep the Business CD and original speakers and just throw an amplifier in there somewhere to give more boost
3. Alpine retrofit kit
4. Something bigger and better than the Alpine, needs an amplifier
5. A combination of the previous that some HIFI-salesman puts together.

It's just a hopeless journey trying to keep the costs sensible. Of course, when they start working on the HIFI, it's better to do it well on the first try, but I don't want to pay that much :p

A diesel manual shooting brake? Too bad it's not brown :p

Insane that you can't just plug/play a better HU. I'm voting for options 1 or 2. The rest seem like wastes of money.

Went for the Alpine retrofit-kit, installation in two weeks. It will cost a shit-load of money, but it's also going to bring alot of new goodies: tweeters into the A-pilars, new speakers in the doors, a mid-bass speaker under the passenger seat (I found out that now I only have one under the driver's seat) and an amplifier into the trunk to power all of this.

I've done some minor updates during the past weeks:

The aux-cable is surface installed because I couldn't be arsed to look for ways of neatly removing the center tunnel just because of one little cable. It's quite well hidden behind the seat now aswell, so no biggie.

Also gave her a wash

Edit: Oh yeah, also ordered new summer tires: Hankook Ventus Prime 2 in 205/50/17.
