Ownership Verified: A Car that Out-BMWs a Modern BMW - Veritable's V

Due to a slight misunderstanding as to what my exhaust job entails, I went back to the shop on Monday morning. While there, I took the opportunity to take a few pictures of their "shop cars". Here are a selection of pics, plus those of my car.

They have: Land Rover Range Rover (L405), Toyota 700 (UP10D), Honda / Acura NSX x2 (NA1 + NA2), Honda Civic Type-R (FK8), Honda S2000 (AP2), Mercedes-Benz E-class Estate (W213)

Anyways, the "misunderstanding" is that when we were discussing the exhaust job, I instructed that I wanted to do the "resonator delete", as it is a cheap way to get more sound. I also instructed that I did not want to remove the catalytic converters, because I did not want to deal with the Check Engine Light just yet. Unfortunately, my instructions turned out to be conflicting, because what we thought to be resonators were actually "secondary cats", so the technician left them on and installed the X-Pipes just behind them. After some discussion, and since they were not monitored by the ECU and thus their absence would not be noticed by the engine, I decided to remove them... and the shop gave me a bit of a further discount. Here is the result:

Then, on Tuesday afternoon, I dropped the car off at the dealership for the supercharger service bulletin, which after some wrangling they also agreed to install the Camaro5 ZL1 supercharger lid as part of the process. The ZL1's LSA engine is rated at 580bhp as opposed to mine's 556bhp, and as far as anyone can tell that "lid" was the only difference. The taller "lid" lowers intake air temperature and is also much smoother inside.

As to why GM didn't just put that onto the CTS-Vs? Well, also due to being taller, the hood would not close, so some cuts were needed as you can see in the PDF... and so the same was done to mine:

To make the CTS-V2 go fast, GM Performance went with Camaro bits that they knew well. And then, they had to quiet them down to make the car befit the Cadillac name. I personally do not care about that, so I have now changed them back to the way they should have been ;-)

Honestly, if GM offered the Chevrolet SS... which is the Australian Holden VF Commodore... and also basically the Chevy Camaro in sedan form... that would have been my pick. With the CTS-V, I had to pay more for the "Cadillac-ness" that nonetheless fell short of Ze Germans.

Still, all the parts fit, so that is what I am doing: putting a bit of the rawness back :)
