Ownership Verified: My '07 Honda CBR 1000 RR Fireblade

I'll have to look into that, thanks.

The front suspension was cleaned and serviced yesterday. I doesn't feel that different, but I still had very much fun detouring on my way back home :burnrubber:

I took my camera along for my night ride yesterday. These photos would need a quick edit, but meh.

First, my new favorite road just around the corner from where I live:

Another day at the office, my new Michelin Pilot Road 3 waiting to be installed :) I was meaning to get it done last Friday but it was raining too much.
The old front tire has worn out in a weird way, the profile is all wavy now. The tread varies from maybe 0 to 1.5mm in the center.

Weird. Maybe it's a little out of balance? And neat pics man, bike looks great.

That's a not uncommon wear pattern for some dual-compound tires.

Makes sense.

Changed the coolant and motor oil today. The coolant change was too easy compared to cars, I could have (and should have) flushed it a few times with the same effort. The coolant was green, so I bought some green Neste coolant and used that.

The motor oil I put in is Honda's own Repsol Full-Synthetic 10W40. Oh boy, what a difference that did! All the excess vibrations from the engine are long gone. The new front tire is also excellent and the combination of these two improvements makes the bike even more of a pleasure to blast with.

My friend, who has ridden racing bikes since forever, taught me two pointers about dynamic riding. I've known about both points, but haven't really had the bike to try them out with before. Now, after 3000km, I'm comfortable enough on this bike to start experimenting with new things. First of all, upshifting does not require pressing the clutch all the way down. I've tried upshifting without the clutch and didn't like doing it, but doing it halfway like this really smoothens out my acceleration. The second point is looking far enough ahead when going through corners, it really makes a difference. It's fun noticing yourself improve as a rider

I made a fixed installation for my GoPro on my bike, the result is quite nice.

I toured around Eastern Finland during the weekend. I rode 1051km in two days, which is what everyone should do with a sports bike

I found some awesome new roads and just enjoyed the start of my summer vacation. Here are some photos from the trip. It was quite cloudy, but the photos are also very much underexposed. I guess my GoPro just didn't feel like it.

First, a road not quite meant for my Honda. Easy burnouts were made, though

That's one huge bridge in Puumala. Had a nice Sunday morning coffee there.

Then, the road turned yellow and floating.

Then at home, my bike was quite dirty.

Then, finally, washed and waxed.

(forgot to wash the HONDA-badge)

I've ridden over 6000km on the bike now and it still makes me smile <3

Looks like you test drove our Sunday route then.. :p

Nothing new has been going on with the bike during the summer. I've ridden it whenever possible and enjoyed every moment. I was meaning to do a few more road trips, but due to monetary issues I haven't had all the money for petrol I would have needed.

I hate riding with a bag on my back, so no new DSLR photos are available. Here are a few potato pics nevertheless, awful quality I know.

It's rideable on gravel, but I'd much rather have a super moto for that kind of roads ;)

I found its ancestor from a bike meet the other day.

My bike in comparison, in the same meet.

The nights are getting cold and dark, riding season is almost over. I've gathered almost 10 000km on the bike during the summer

I have see whether I'll be keeping the bike on the road over October or will it go to sleep at R.A's place already in the end of this month. Plans for the winter include installing a gear display, as much overhaul and maintenance as possible DIY, tightening all the nuts and bolts etc. etc. I'm tempted to burn the rear tire away before winter storage, but that would just be stupid, wouldn't it...

Gave the bike a much needed wash tonight. It got as dirty on the way back home, but at least it was clean for a while

Can't be arsed to edit the license plate away, so I'm only posting photos taken from the front :p If it's not raining, I'll take the bike to the gear.fi track day next Sunday. After that, the riding season is just about done.

We had a blast with the gear.fi folk at Ahvenisto last week. I learned many things what to improve on my riding like my position on the bike, cornering etc. Nevertheless, it was fun and I didn't crash :)

But now my season is over, after 9175km.

And the day ended here:

I changed the chain and sprockets with a friend of mine and we removed the wheels so I can get the bearings renewed next week. A successful day :)

The winter is so long that I decided to entertain myself with another coolant change. On the bike.

It's been suffering from heat issues: especially during hot summer days the coolant temperature reaches above 100 degrees really easily leading to the fan spinning almost all the time when going under 50km/h. I flushed the system once with plain water and then added 2/3 water, 1/3 green coolant and as an added bonus, some Water Wetter. Then, during a test heating, the coolant temperature reached the right running level where the thermostat opens and then immediately the temperature dropped by a few degrees. I've never seen my bike do this, only other bikes.

Great success.

The bike is almost finished for the winter! This is where I started today:

20160123_115029.jpg

First, I changed the brake pads into some EBC sport pads. The have the text "Race Set" on them, but they should be road&track pads :D

20160123_130452%25257E2.jpg

Then I installed the gear indicator properly:

IMG-20160123-WA0016.jpeg

And finally started attaching some fairings. I really like how the red wheel tape pops out :)

IMG_20160123_142637.jpg

What's left to do is an oil change and attaching the rest of the fairings. That's going to happen just before the season, though.

The season has started! Last week I went for a short ride just to inflate the tires but last weekend I rode the bike home.

The gear indicator works like a charm, all fluids remain inside the bike and the chain hasn't fallen off during the first 230km of the year. I'd call this a success. I already ordered a new slip-on exhaust as I got fed up with the bike sounding like a sewing machine :|
