So I saw this was heading for an okay price on eBay, and was local to me, so I put a bid on it.
Then I won it.
So off I went to collect a 1986 Mk2 Fiesta I'd never seen in my life before, which I'd legally entered a contract to buy. Pretty risky, but I think it paid off okay! Trailered it home, then gave it a quick spin, changed the oil and ordered some new tyres. Now I've driven a good few miles in it, and it's absolutely brilliant. Really tight still, despite 86k on the clock. Lots of good service history with it and receipts etc.
It lived on the Island of Guernsey for the first year of it's life (hire car?) and since then has lived about an hour from me, the last owner being from 1989-today. He averaged 1,000 miles a year in the thing. It's properly old man spec with the paint touch ins to prove it, plus the rather 70s carpet... :lol: It's had welding of course, which isn't of the best quality to look at (patches on the sills), but it's very strong and firm, just not pretty repairs.
The 1.1 is a crossflow Kent engine, a direct advancement of the one in my Anglia, which is nice. It's really rather peppy, and has a lovely low rasp at low revs. Sounds much better than it should!
Plan for this one is lightly improve it, have some summer fun in it, and then shift it on to someone has the time to do it properly, and the room to store it properly.

As collected, aftermarket hubcaps were the first thing to go:
Look at that aftermarket wobbly carbon fibre knob and those homemade floor mats!
I have no idea if the Olympic was a special edition or something:
