A friend of mine was visiting over the weekend and as car guys do, we got to talking about what cars we would buy if we won the lottery. As has been the case for a long time, the first two cars I'd buy on the spot would be a used Koenigsegg One:1 and a used G63-AMG 6x6. But that got us thinking..... if you could only buy 2 NEW cars from a dealer TODAY, what would they be? As a further challenge we also that you will own these two for the rest of your life, and you can never get anything else.
So.... to summarize.
1. You can choose any two new cars.
2. They must be available to purchase from a dealer now. You cannot wait for a rumored new model or upgraded version to come on sale later.
3. You must live with these 2 cars and only these 2 cars for the rest of your life.
4. You cannot keep anything you currently have. You can never buy anything else.
So my answer. Took me a long time to come up with, and went through several iterations, but I'm fairly happy with this garage.
1. Weekends
Lamborghini Huracan Preformante

Yes, I'd own a hybrid. That was actually my friends answer for his daily car and it took me a while to understand. But it has a twin turbo V8, a combined 680hp and 626lb-ft. 0-60 in the same time as a 911 GT3 and is faster than any non-hybrid Turbo Panamera. Sexy sexy wagon body. Room for 4 + some stuff. The electrification fills in the gaps in the powerband that the turbo misses. Oh and did I mention its super sexy looking?
As much as I'd love a Koenigsegg, the Agera is out of production and sold out now and they're onto the Regara. I'm not sure I'm sold on the direct drive powertrain yet and the looks still need to grow on me. While the Huracan has a screaming V10, insane active aero trickery making it a track beast and is drop dead gorgeous inside.
My buddy's answer for his 2nd car was a Pagani Huayra BC roadster.
