I thought we could use a thread listing upcoming motorsport events that we'll be attending. It would make meeting other Final Gear folks easier.

I'll start:
Sandblast Rally
March 4th & 5th, 2016
Cheraw, SC, USA

This is a NASA stage rally for both cars and motorcycles. It's run through the pine barrens in the northeast corner of South Carolina.
I'll be there, working as a stage captain both days ('Shakedown' on Friday and 'Sand Trap' on Saturday).
I'll be staying at the Quality Inn in Cheraw and will be driving a full-size, burgundy 4WD Chevy pickup with a matching 'cap' and Ohio plates.

For more details, see: http://nasarallysport.com/main/event?e=2015-Sandblast-Rally

If you're coming to the event, send me a PM or just look me up!

My buddy Kev and I are headed back to the Sandblast Rally this weekend (see basic description from last year in first post, above). We'll be working controls this year - most likely doing timing.

I find it a bit surprising that no one else on this forum seems to attend stage rallies...

Oh well, we'll be there! If anyone from FG is headed that way, just look for two old guys in a big dark red Chevy 4WD pickup... That will be us!

I love attending small amateur rally stages whenever possible - it's just that you're on the wrong side of the planet! Come on over here and we'll enjoy some rallying together.

Hi all

Kev and I got back home yesterday evening. We had a fun weekend working at the rally and catching up with old friends.
Since we've been at this so long, the organizers tend to give us multiple assignments; so - we're pretty well worn out when it's over!

For anyone who's interested:
Results are here: http://nasarallysport.com/results/2017-Sandblast-Rally-index.htm

Videos... start here, Then check out more videos on the right side of the screen. Be sure to watch at least one in-car to get a feel for how difficult the roads are!

Still photos - Just starting to come in as I type this on March 7th - this site is an archive, so there are photos from lots of other rallies, too:

You really have to be prepared to travel if you're going to watch/participate in stage rally...
Sandblast was 400 miles (655 km) each way for us, plus all the driving we did working the rally. We try to make it to this rally each year, as well as the Susquehannock Trail Pro Rally (aka: STPR) in north-central Pennsylvania. That one is about 480 miles (790 km) away from us. This year, we'll be adding a third (new) event: the Southern Ohio Forest Rallies (SOFR), but it's only about 80 miles (130 km) from us.
