Found some more leftovers:

Watched Total Recall in the afternoon, ehh, and Serenity just now since i just finished a run of Firefly yesterday

Skyfall. It only came out in Australia today.

It was good, but it had a few flaws.

I didn't cry. Not a bit. I'M NOT A LITTLE GIRL WHO SAID THAT

Saw Skyfall and it was great, but it didn't have that suave, espionage type feel that Casino Royale brought. In fact, it just felt like your "typical action movie". Still well done however but the fallen superhero theme is seriously getting played out.

I definitely got a similar feeling about the second half of the movie. It got to the point where I found myself thinking "this could be any action franchise". I also thought that S?v?rine made out how evil and fear-inspiring Silva is, then when we met him he didn't seem anywhere near malicious enough. I was expecting him to be cruel and savage.

Remember that scene when Bond gets poisoned, cures himself, then walks back to the game table like a fucking boss? That was THE definition of suave.

Certainly missed that semblance in Skyfall.

Most themes you are discussing are dicussed at length over in the Skyfall thread. Join us for the fun!

'Drive'

Holy shit I feel like such an idiot for skipping this in the cinema, what a great movie, the performances, the cinematography, the music, the 70's atmosphere, it all just works so well!

Such a relief to see a movie were the 'hero' is not a larger then life spandex clad superhero or a googly eyed sensitive metrosexual, but just a bloke, one that can drive and kick ass, but one that has faults and knows it, starts trembling talking to a mob boss and falls for the girl next door.

The ending is just superb, and sadly often all to true, 'a real human being' should be on everyone's life soundtrack.....or it will be at some point.

Magnificent.

End of Watch.

This one really surprised me. I was expecting a good LA cop drama but the performances by Gyllenhaal and Pena were nothing short of spectacular. The handycam style (which I usually either dislike or just tune out from) actually works very well here and puts you side by side with the officers, making you feel involved.

It is a little formulaic at times, and the acting by some of the minor characters isn't all that great (though I think the superb leads accentuate this) but it is still one of the funniest and most touching movies I've seen in ages.

9/10

Does watching this now have anything to do with a particular movie site releasing it? ;)

Batman Returns Part 1, good movie, looking forward to Part 2, and yes, this is a tired cliche, but Kevin Conroy did the best voice for Batman, no one can match his depth or timbre accurately, the Bale Batman just sounded artificial and nothing else sounds as good as he does.

Also saw Ice Age 4, forgettable, when did Ice Age become a teen family movie? Such a lot of useless family bs. Every single series knows how to ruin itself by jumping onto some idiotic bandwagon theme instead of staying a good series, Ice Age 1 was about three mammals, then suddenly everyone needs a damned family, it started high but i'd give it a 5/10, it was only saved by the jokes and Dinklage.

Yes.
Bale's voice was a bit off, it was a bit too nasal, and it's enough to bother me,can't quite get used to it.
Speaking of voices, Hardy's bane was weird too. Not so much the tone but the weird pronounciation at some moments.

And while we're on the subject of Batman, I saw The Dark Knight this weekend. haven't seen it in a while, so many things I missed or forgot.
I think I just might be taking the 'TDK is better then TDKR' side.

Thanks once again to Nolan for the whole trilogy, it is briliant.

Aaaaand, saw Prestige (also Nolan's) yesterday, great movie, great acting!
