The "Things that annoy me" thread

Here's my main ringtone...

My SMS alert a while back was Clarkson saying "I've got a text". It lasted about 3 weeks before it got annoying.

A former colleague of mine had a laugh that sounded like a seal. She couldn't help it. And we seriously thought of turning it into a ringtone.

But then we decided that would be mean ;)

Text:
Just a single rev of that same car.

When my phone is paired to the head unit of the car, the ringtone plays on the speakers.
Fun times when someone calls me while I am driving.
I don't feel like answering. :p

My normal ringtone:

Ringtone for calls from work (without the "50, 40, 30, 20"):

Incoming email on my primary gmail address (without the "stall, stall"):

I can't find an example of my incoming sms sound on youtube.

Please explain the "50, 40, 30, 20, retard"

Please explain the "50, 40, 30, 20, retard"

They are radar altitude callouts, telling the pilots how high (in feet) they are above the ground.

The "Retard, retard" part is unique to Airbus, and it means retard the throttles to idle during the landing flare (up to that point the throttles are most likely advanced to the CL position, with auto-throttle engaged.

Or it could be a countdown to the closest retard while at work. :D

I entered a "create a themed meme" contest on a brand's Facebook group, where the winner would have gotten $100 off their order in a limited production run. I didn't realize until after I had entered that they weren't going to announce the winner until the purchase window was closed, and the award would be given to those who already ordered. I couldn't justify buying another of what this company makes at full price, so I didn't place an order for this limited production run.

4 weeks pass, and i got a PM today to right before they announced the winner...that said I would have won, but I didn't have an order in.

:wall:  :?

Congrats...

NZXT can't tell me when my CPU cooler will ship, and somehow my website log-in got changed so I can't even check it online. After trying to reach them all day Friday and most of today, I still can't get ahold of anyone.

*sigh*

So I order a cheap air cooler on Amazon. They wait 4 days to ship it. But there's no tracking number. I ask them for a tracking number twice, and no responses to either request. Amazon said I should get it by today based on my order date. Nothing.

I've had all of my computer components basically since Black Friday and I haven't been able to put my damn computer together yet. (K series intel CPUs don't come with a stock cooler, because it's an unlocked SKU so they assume everyone who buys it is going to over clock it and get an aftermarket cooler anyway)

Ugh.

Being in California, I'm surprised you didn't just hit up a MicroCenter or Fry's and call it a day.

If you wanted to make the trip to Concord or Palo Alto, the latter's open until 10 pm.

I have a stock cooler you can have for cost of shipping.

That's normal for NZXT. I had a problem with my H2 case that needed replacement parts under warranty and after filing the warranty claim, the shipping department was unreachable. My parts did eventually arrive about a week and a half later with no announcement.

Also, that lack of cooler must be relatively new because my 3770K came with one.

Microcenter is 7 hours away, and Fry's is...jesus christ, Fry's. Imagine a store that has worse price tag accuracy than grocery section in a liquor store in the shitty part of town (They are still printed on a dot-matrix printer). Then, have every person in every department come up to you to try to get you to "write up your purchase" at their computer...just so you can have a piece of paper listing the items you have in your hand...that you still need to take to the front registers to pay...where everything (except token sale items) are stupid expensive, and it doesn't matter that there's a 3-facings-wide shelf space for something...it won't be there. It'll be in some random wire rolling bin over by the vacuum cleaners or next to the caf? that nobody is ever working in.

Fry's: where every floor model is defective, broken or missing parts...just as their "quality checked open-box" items.

Fry's: where you'll be hounded by everyone trying to get credit for the items you already have in your hand...but god forbid you actually need to get someone to help you.

Fry's: where they have a full two-room suite dedicated to home theater...where not a single thing has ever been working or turned on in the 16 years I've lived in the bay area.

But it's the place you go if you want to browse through their adult DVD section...or to browse the Anime just down the aisle from the porn, cuz, ya know, that doesn't get any strange looks from anybody.

Fry's: Where a 200-year-old indian man has to draw a highlighter line on your receipt before you can leave for some reason (there's no way that guy could read my receipt).

Fry's: Where the CPU cases (every single one of them is missing at least one front piece, and at least one side panel) are by the motherboards...but not by the video cards, which are over by the pre-built computers...which aren't over by the hard drives.

Fry's: when it comes to recognizable name brands, they are one step above a 99c store for seemingly at least half of their products.

They are actually about 50 miles round trip on 101...

Shit...am I actually considering it?

But damnit, I really want the NZXT Kracken X62...

It is newish, at least on the newest gen i5 and i7. I've got the i5 6600K, and no cooler.

Yeah, it's become a point now to ensure that stuff on Amazon, is sold by Amazon or a prime certified seller. Everyone else can suck it because too many of them have done shit like you're saying to me.

Ha! thanks. :) I think I might have a lead on one locally from a friend who's water-cooling his non-overclocked i3.

Yeah, I've heard that, but this was the first time for me. Lesson learned.
