Well they can, but since they own the GOP, there's a fat chance of that happening.

The fact that they have their own police force that likes to go around murdering people is disturbing on a whole new level. Naturally there shouldnt be any BART police, there should be regular police, preferably the kind that does not go about murdering people at random.

First responders decry exclusion from 9/11 ceremony

Yet now, after all the wreckage has been cleared and the rebuilding has begun, their path is again blocked -- not by flying chunks of smoldering rubble, but by space constraints.

The first responders are not invited to this year's September 11 memorial ceremony at ground zero, New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg's office confirmed Monday.

                .....

Additionally, many of the first responders see the decision, first reported by the New York Daily News, as evidence of the city's attempt to push to the background their untreated ailments in the official narrative of recovery and renewal.

"It'll bring up the issue that we're basically walking dead, and that we're not being treated."

Despite the passage in December of the $4.2 billion Zagroda Act, which provides medical treatment and compensation to responders, many first responders told CNN that the government has failed to address their health needs.

In July, the World Trade Center Health Program, which administers funds from the Zagroda Act, ruled that first responders would not receive compensation for cancer treatment because there is no established causal link between the incidence of cancer and exposure to the site on September 11, citing a dearth of "published scientific and medical findings."
Can't really put into words the shame I feel for how these people have been treated.

That is outrageous. I visted the FDNY Museum in April, 2002 to pay my respects at the first tribute display in the museum and say thank you to Firefighters.

                    I'm sick of this shit:

This BLM says that the road pictured is not a road, but an "illegal trail." A "trail" that happens to have state-funded wood curbing, regular maintenance, is numbered and appears on maps, and has provided access for years. The BLM (Bureau of Land Management) is closing roads like this all over my state. This photo was actually taken by a local cop, who sent it to our local organization that protests these closures.

I'm going to a protest rally this Saturday. The BLM is essentially using bureaucratic rules because they can't get laws through congress shutting us out of our own state.

An illegal trail??? WTF were they smoking when they came up with that line?

Anyway, here is BART's take on the planned protest. Can't get much more biased than this.

There was a dude on the bart before with apparently an uzi. He exclaimed so to another passenger and me and my roommate at the time were a bit shocked. We kept calm but we found 4 bart officers just standing around the powell station in SF. I explained everything to them but it looked like they really didn't give 2 shits.

The BART police need to be replaced with real police and the BART train "drivers" need to replaced by people who won't complain about a $100,000 a year salary for doing absolutely nothing. Oh and before you say "but they're doing a big service by driving the train bla bla", there are videos on youtube of the drivers reading books and playing around on their phones. The trains basically drive themselves. Ehhhhhhh?

The trains probably don't totally drive themselves as there was an incident here where someone crashed the MBTA train because texting.
Well, now if the train drivers have a phone on them at all when at work they are fired.

How do you think they found the narrator? Did they just check the credits for Starship Troopers and ask the narrator of the newscasts if he was available?

'Kids for cash' judge gets 28 years in Pennsylvania bribery case

Mark Ciavarella Jr took $1m in bribes from the builder of two detention centres in return for filling them with juvenile offenders

A long-serving judge has been ordered to spend nearly 30 years in prison for his role in a bribery scandal that prompted the state's high court to overturn thousands of juvenile convictions.

Former Luzerne County Judge Mark Ciavarella Jr was sentenced on Thursday to 28 years in prison .

The Pennsylvania supreme court overturned about 4,000 convictions issued by Ciavarella between 2003 and 2008, saying he violated the constitutional rights of the juveniles, including the right to legal counsel and the right to intelligently enter a plea.

Ciavarella, 61, was tried and convicted of racketeering charges earlier this year. His lawyers had asked for a "reasonable" sentence in court papers, saying, in effect, that he had already been punished enough.

"The media attention to this matter has exceeded coverage given to many and almost all capital murders, and despite protestation, he will forever be unjustly branded as the 'kids for cash' judge," they said.

Federal prosecutors accused Ciavarella and a second judge, Michael Conahan, of taking more than $2m in bribes from the builder of the PA Child Care and Western PA Child Care detention centres and extorting hundreds of thousands of dollars from the facilities' co-owner.

Ciavarella, known for his harsh and autocratic courtroom demeanour, filled the beds of the private lockups with children as young as 10, many of them first-time offenders convicted of petty theft and other minor crimes.

The judge remained defiant after his arrest, insisting the payments were legal and denying he incarcerated youths for money.

The jury returned a mixed verdict following a February trial, convicting him on 12 counts, including racketeering and conspiracy, and acquitting him on 27 counts, including extortion. The guilty verdicts related to a payment of $997,600 from the builder.

Conahan, meanwhile, pleaded guilty last year and awaits sentencing.

This hypocrite got what he deserved, no matter how much he denies it.
