No 56k: No vehicle was spared! [FG Roadtrip 2016 UK edition] photo thread

    You know the drill ...

But let's start with all the challenges we had to overcome:
    1. Joe crashes his bike due to target fixation. [but we think he was just driving too fast]
    2. The disco failed before the roadtrip even started.
    3. Joe got sick and needed to be brought to the hospital at 4AM.
    4. The fiesta got rear ended.
    5. The 205 was hungry for a bike.
    6. Joe's gearbox shat itself.
    7. Joe's bike falls over in front of the AA guy.
    8. The daimler got pulled over due to insurance issues.
    9. Dennis' E39 tapped Arron's MX-5 ass.
    10. The daimlers tyre sprung a leak.
    11. Adrian in constant need of 3 more octane.
    12. The rover lost a brake pad.
    13. The 205 has a fuel leak.
    14. Adrian has a fracas at a tesco extra and calls the cops. (the guy gets charged with assault)
    15. Joe gets a vauxhall insignia in the rental roulette.
    16. Peter.be triumph rear brakes dissapeared.
    17. My beemer went for a nap in a corner.
    18. Joe's rental gets 2 flats while kissing some rocks.
    19. The insignia keys are not with the car when AA arrives.
    20. The AA leaves because the keys are not there.
    21. Dennis' E39's clutch fails. (in front of a pub)
    22. The cassette player in the daimler broke down with a tape from Eric Clapton in it. (and suddenly it came back to life)
    23. Peter.uk's audi also released some air from a tyre.
    24. The daimler has a brake fluid leak.
    25. Adrian reverses into a church wall.
    26. The E39 got towed 3 hours too late, and into the wrong direction away from the campsite.
    27. The daimler got pushed (!) into the MX-5
    28. Dennis gets a focus estate in the rental roulette.
    29. The is no casette player in the rental seat from the fins.
    30. Mikko's bike also fell asleep.
    31. The 8's tyre also kissed a rock and lost it's breath.
    32. Dennis choses a hyundai i30 instead of a cactus as a rental.

These are basically just the taglines. More explanation will be given by the victims in other posts. If photo's are made and posted, i will link to them.

The actual car failures and crashes are in bold. The wins are between braces. And the random and people stuff is also mentioned in between.
All in chronological order. (a google map with markers will be made later)

(If i forgot something, let me know and i'll add it to the list.)

All in all a good trip I'd say. (y)

I don't mean to sound bitter, cold, or cruel, but I am, so that's how it comes out.
I reject your reality and substitute my own!
Why is Denis Leary a star while Bill Hicks is unknown? Because there's no cure for cancer.
Racing is the only real sport. Everything else is just a game.
In engineering terms, you really can’t have "brilliant, apart from ..." I mean, the Titanic was brilliant, apart from its crappy rudder

              Final prep before leaving:

              First stop, The Ring

              Suddenly in Belgium!

Friendly faces waiting for the chunnel

We made it! Adamar is in the next carriage as there wasn't enough space in ours

Time for a quick thumbs up

              Lowestoft! And the ocean!

              Nice

Most easterly point in the U.K.

We will be at John O'Groats soon enough

              #JustUnitedKingdomThings

Breakfast for the next 3 days

Someones bike needs a quick sip of Cockta:

Random stop on the coastline to take a few pics and relax:

              And suddenly ...

A famous bridge! Really cool actually

The place we had been waiting for!

Photos from me were realitively thin on the ground here as I got a lung infection and was really not up to much. But, I made it!

              #ScotlandIsAwesome

Sadly the bike decided that it liked Lochcarron so much it wanted to stay there for a while.

              Lochcarron:

I took a ride in the Daimler, ohshit:

              Fixed!

The end of the skyfall road:

Oban distillery exclusive tasting, well worth it, totally awesome!

              BBQ time!

              From the campsite in Oban:

If you look closely in the distance you can see the Isle of Man:

Rental insignia next to Daimler. It's longer, wider and heavier and 1000x shitter.

              Nice photo:

              Oops! Fuck.

Peter climbing the hill, just because:

This is the fucker that got me, others hit it as well it seems during discussions, but I hit it right on the sidewall... Fail.

The repair truck turned up, we didn't have the keys for the car so they left - Arron delivered the keys and we got the truck back to repair the tires, this was one of the tires:

On the way to the next stop, the front left tire on the Audi decided not to hold air any more:

              Fixed!

All 3 rentals lined up, left for Daimler - Middle = me, right for Dennis's 5er that ate a clutch.

Bently dealer next to the factory... This was my favourite thing there!

              Nice sunset

              Magestic as fuck

              Pronounce this please:

On the way back, at Dover waiting to board the ferry:

These were the "The rental car place for Dennis's rental car is closed, fuck it, beer time!" while on the way to DaHitch's mums place (That was so awesome and the fries were epic and the food was fantastic! Send my regards again!)

In Germany now, the Discovery goes!

And this is where these photos end:

Also no Peter. I was asleep most of the trip, you can't blame me for missing such intricate details.

Do we have a way to embed imgur galleries directly, btw?

Also, technically, you were with us when we got a puncture, Joe

First half of my picdump, from beginning to leaving Scotland.

Picking up the Daimler from Leamington Spa.

Despite AA guy's best efforts, Keely was left behind with Matt.

I think Antti was somewhat unconvinced by Daimler's paintwork at first. Driving it won him over the car

                                        The accident

                                        At Loch Ness

                                        FIRE. WARM.

Short stop, everyone runs to take photos.

                                        Finland mentioned!

                                        Fake-northernmost point of UK

                                        Ichiban moto!

Trendsetters. 20sec later everyone else was Woollarding on Joe.

Joe was not feeling well, to say the least.

                                        FG sticker

I'm not much of a nature photographer, but at some points the scenery forces my hand.

                                        Boulder in the sea.

Went to the shop, walked back out - suddenly sheep everywhere

The space saver is exactly as wide as normal tyres on the Rover!

                                        Why so grumpy?

On the ferry. Joe is pointing at something, camera failing to predict where I want to focus

                                        Sup.

Flashbacks to Norway. Scottish scenery has uncanny resemblance sometimes.

Campsite at Oban. Lauri joined team Daimler here.

                                        Kebab-ish

Got a set of new tyres here

Oban distillery tour. No photos inside the place, sadly.

Tasting at the end of the tour

And more tasting at the bar

After realizing that every potential driver went through whisky tasting, emergency breathalyzers were employed

                                        Great parking, Philip

More tasting in Glasgow, this will be a recurring theme for the rest of the trip
