New bill proposes to make MP3 streaming illegal

Bad news for those who enjoy online radio like Shoutcast, Live365, etc.....

    http://www.eff.org/deeplinks/archives/004587.php

    Very, very lame

It's already retarded enough that Webcasters have to pay more royalties than XM, and of course FM stations pay nothing as far as royalties to the artists are concerned.

You think that's bad? You should see what they're trying to push in DMCA II!

I skimmed throught the mp3 one, says no mp3...can they go to aac+?
I heard about the DMCA II on one of the TWiTcasts. Shame.
In the USA, 100% of the Federal Income Tax Money goes to paying interest on the national deficit, and nothing else. Where's the law that says we have to pay?

It basically comes down to whether the streaming format meets the DRM requirement of the bill, and at this point neither mp3 or aac+ do, so let's hope that if this bill passes, then these formats will be modified to meet the requirement.

And there will probably be some lame DRM licensing fees that broadcasters will be forced to pay

Just another case of the RIAA trying to screw everyone....
