My new Router

This thing rocks.....has nearly 60% more power than my old router.......and it has 7 funky blue leds on the top to indicate which antennas are active!

They are good routers. They use them throughout our college when they have the laptops in the classrooms. Just plug it in a nearby socket and all 20 laptops are ready to go in an instant, no pissing around having to set it up.

Those routers are very nice! I've got the RM 240, it never drops the connection during BT. Very impressed with it.

Yay, I'm gonna order this tonight:

Case: X-Discovery Mid-Tower Case W/ WINDOW & LCD Temperature Display (Blue Color)
CPU: (Sckt775)Intel? Core? 2 Duo E6600 CPU @ 2.4GHz 1066FSB 2x2MB L2 Cache
MOTHERBOARD: Asus P5N32-SLI SE Deluxe nForce4 SLI Chipset LGA775 Supports Core 2 Duo CPU FSB1066 DDR2/800 Mainboard w/GbLAN, USB2.0, IEEE1394&7.1Audio
MEMORY: 2GB (2x1GB) PC6400 DDR2/800 Dual Channel Memory (Corsair XMS2 Xtreme Memory w/ Heat Spreader)
HARD DRIVE: 160GB SATA-II 3.0Gb/s 8MB Cache 7200RPM HDD
Optical Drive: Sony Q170A 18x Double Layer Dual Format DVD+-R/+-RW + CD-R/RW Drive (BLUE COLOR)

So the only thing lacking is a video card and sound card, but that's where my current BFG 7900GS OC and Creative X-Fi Xtreme Gamer come in :)

I can't wait!!!!!!!

That'll be a fast compy...I bet that you beat me on benchmarks easily, even though I have a bigger HD and 2 7900gt cards in SLI

I installed one of those for a friend of mine (dunno if it was the same model, but whatever), and the GUI was just a big mess. The first-timer-install was the worst. It demanded a milllion restarts of the router, and after all that, the webinterface just worked every time you restarted the router. You couldnt use letters for your WLAN key either.. Had to use HEX(?)

Prefer my good old 3com ;)

After reading that article, I almost wish I would've saved some cash and went with the E6300 :?

Well, it depends, if your case is very well vented, and you're lucky with your cooler, it'll be no problem at all. If you got a narrow case ( like me, htpc) and get one of the coolers that isn't perfect (I read about some differences between coolers, seems like I got a 10-20% worse one...) you won't get as high... I'm still happy with the 6300, though!

I've been thinking about switching to the E6300 ever since I saw that article, but I already placed the order and I think it's worth going to the E6600 for the 4 MB L2 cache.

Once I get the PC setup, I'm going to need some overclocking tips from you guys! I've OCed video cards, but never a CPU ;)

Yeah thats right, I skipped the stupid assistant :) That HEX thingy annoyed me as well, I use WPA now, there you can use ASCII :)

BTW:

A little Video from my router:

It is ideling, as soon as a WLAN device connects, it shows which 3 antennas are active. Funny, but also annoying and luckily it has a LED-off switch :)

this is f.e. with my dad connected - I know whos online by watching the leds :D

how well do you think the E6600 will overclock with a stock fan? According to Tom's Hardware, the E6300 can out perform an X6800 with only the stock fan:

if your really wanted to save some cash, you should have gotten the new core 2 duo e4300. That thing easily overclocks past a 6800 and it's only $160.

That's ok. I think I'll be really happy with the E6600. I think it will be worth the extra money in the end.

Man, cvg, I'm also thinking about that scythe!

Could you do me a favour and measure, how high it rises over the mobo? I got a pretty small case ;-)
