The Android thread

Suddenly a swathe of round smartwatches are on the horizon, though i think I will hold out for the next moto, I thought pebble would go round and that probably wouldve tempted me away from my 360, but if a new moto comes along mid year and has better internals, i can see myself getting it. It will be interesting to see how soon they stop with this ridiculous one watch, one device lock down, no one with more than one watch is going to suffer through that (you need to basically reset the watch to sync to another phone/device, and unpair the watch from the same phone to use another).

Or like the Samsung ones that only work with Samsung phones.

Sooooo... any lockscreen apps I need to try? Dashclock isn't my thing, closest so far is SnapLock, which looks good and gives me the functionality of choosing which apps are allowed to annoy me and which aren't, but it eats nearly all my available memory, which is not so good...

The "fake" Lollipop homescreens are a big "AVOID" I guess? Since they're made by people with daft sounding names and are littered with ads?

I've been using AcDisplay and have been very happy with it.

I recently noticed something very odd: every day, when I walk by a particular building when going to the gym, my bluetooth headphones have trouble with choppy sound.
EVERY DAY. Must be something there interfering with the frequency or something.

Bluetooth? When I went to college and passed by the electronics specialty department I could never get FM radio to work.

I'd stand in the spot with interference and check to see how many active BT Signals you get. If every single person in the gym is using BT headsets, that would probably explain it

The gym is some 10 meters away from that spot, but checking for bluetooth signals was a good idea.

I had the same issue a few years ago walking to work, but it was in a parking lot with nothing with 20m.

Android 5.1: http://officialandroid.blogspot.de/2015/03/android-51-unwrapping-new-lollipop.html

Today we are rolling out Android 5.1 - an update to Lollipop that improves stability and performance and offers a few new features like support for multiple SIM cards, Device Protection and high definition (HD) voice on compatible phones.

Whether you want to share your phone with a family member or better manage your mobile costs, Android Lollipop 5.1 now lets you use more than one SIM card on a device with multiple SIM slots.

With Device Protection, your lost or stolen device will remain locked until you sign in with your Google account - even if someone resets your device to factory settings. This feature will be available on most Android phones and tablets shipped with Android 5.1 in addition to Nexus 6 and Nexus 9.

High Definition voice calling is now on your mobile phone. Get crystal clear calling with HD Voice between compatible Android 5.1 devices like the Nexus 6 on T-Mobile or Verizon.

Android 5.1 Lollipop also provides enhancements such as the ability to join Wi-Fi networks and control of your paired Bluetooth devices directly from Quick Settings.

We hope you enjoy these tasty additions to Android Lollipop as you get more out of your Android phone and tablet.

Already on it. :D Runs great. And apparently the silent mode is back with working LEDs on the None mode. :p

All the toggles have a cool animation when you press them. The play store got some as well. Launching the camera and the phone apps from the lockscreen is faster. You can swipe up heads up notifications which will get rid of the heads up but will keep the notification the drawer.

Overall a nice coat of polish for Lollipop.

anyone knows when motorola finally will roll out the 5.0 update?

Moto X and G should have been on them since day one, practically. Depends on your provider if there's some tomfoolery there.

my provider has nothing to do with it. it's illegal here for providers to mess with your phone.
they offer the service, which you use on your own hardware...they have nothing to say about that.

it's motorolla that should release it...

AFAIK many people here in Brazil already got it, for both the 1st and 2nd gen Moto Gs and most of Moto Xs too.

My Moto Maxx seems to be the one lagging behind, with only a few people getting it through a test program. Nothing official yet.

*sighs* still 4.2 here and no update in sight.
Maybe next time if I buy a decent phone I may get some updates? I want all the eyecandy aswell!
