[10x12] December 11th, 2006

Is it just me, or is the mininova-side down? :p

Wasn't overally impressed with this ep, was OK by FG standard but still had sucky bits
-Tim's bit was his best yet, that stunt dude rocks and was alot better than the other blokes crap with the plates
-Toms bit was OK but the car sucked and looks ugly as hell.
-Track-day bit was useful, never knew about the tyre thing until last night. .
-Gift bit we could of done without, none of them were any good
-Johnny's bit, sucked its just a fucking Daw....sorry Chevrolet, should of showed the Ferrari's and Porsche's more, also isn't 6.5s for that Escort abit slow with all those mods?
-Vikki's bit could of been good but just wasn't, after a dreary ep it was just plain crap
-Johns bit was informative but boring, like a smoking ad that you see everyday

So fifth gear is directly copying Top Gear now.

They got the same guy to do the same stunt [01x06]. I guess they're calling Lovejoy a Granny.

viki's segment? cak....even a renault 5 would of withstood that abuse. my friends ragged a non-road worthy one round his field, and even off the table top he built with his neigbors JCB, wheels came off, so did doors and windows....but it still worked.

she didnt try hard enough IMO.

Don't forget that the renault 5 used to be a serious rally car!

lovescock wasnt bad actually this week, though i was dying to see the baby haymaker spark him out. he so wasnt ready for that shot either and he had to give the pad to guy from *cough*the best university evar!*cough* Loughborough Uni.

someone from loughborough uni was on fifth gear?

screenshots?

Have to say, I love Russ Swift. He allways smiles. I really like him, would love to have a pint with him.

It's getting ridiculous how much Fifth Gear is copying Top Gear, have they no shame?

Russ Swift is known for that. Clarkson had him in like 3 of his videos that he puts out each year. And he was Tiff Needell's Burning Rubber.

The episode was solid, nothing spectacular but it was decent/good overall

What makes this episode so good was that there were no unbearable parts to it. In most episodes of this series, there have been really good segments but also really bad ones which leave us with a bad opinion. This ep was bearable all the way through, although it could have done without the boxing bit outside the cafe which I didn't really understand.

I've always had faith in Fifth Gear because I've watched all the episodes since its started and I know what they're capable of. What's been holding them back are those really bad segments and now that they are getting rid of them, they are finding more balance.

Can't wait for next weeks ep with the S65 AMG :woot: But it seems the car doesn't "stand the abuse" which can only mean one thing :(

Yeah the S65 AMG is an episode that I really looked into though it is more on the car itself rather than the whole particular episode. :)

yeah but, french..... not that i have anything against them, but sometimes they really do suck at nailing stuff together. citroen, peugeot and renault pretty much occupy the last places on the TG survey too.

yeah, ill have to watch it again, but im pretty sure the guy who appeard with the "hay maker" at the cafe segment with tim (seeing how much HP his punch has) was from loughborough university

interesting, I'm on an auto engineering course, so it might be one of my lecturers.

Escort? What Escort? There were 2 Ford Sierra Cosworth's, but no Escort!

And I checked out a W12 Phaeton on Uk's Ebay, and you can NOT get one for less than 47,000 pounds. The normal or diesel version are up for 25 grand, so either Mr. Bentley got his VW "Bentley" very, very, very cheap or mixed up with other versions!

could have found better things to do with my time then watch that, though there were a few things i liked.
vikki's outfit when she was doing the x-mas tree got my imagination going a little.
when the tiffettes were dancing and tim said "why!" seems like the presenters are actually getting tired of the new programming.
tiff's track day was good in my opinion because i've watched too many newbies at track days, this will help get rid of a few fears.

any yes, use chalk on your sidewalls, shoe polish doesn't come off too quicly :p you look like a clown car driving around town with lines all over your tires.

Yes and they are RWD... Big turbocharged Cosworth power + RWD Sierra + anyhing but a skilled driver = lots of smoke and no speed off the line...

A bit dry but perfectly bearable. Did that spiky haired dude said he owned an S12 Silvia? LOL

yeah me too it surprised me that he said he had a S12. he doesnt look like the guy who would buy one.

as for the episode, my rating is "meh". not good not bad, but lovejoy's segment surprised me:blink:
