Random Thoughts....

Shawn - Use your UBC proxy.

proxy.library.ubc.ca, port 8000. use your ubc library card number for access. let me know how it goes.

I just went to the billing office at the hospital to get my billing statement thus far: Over $34,000! That's more than twice the state minimums for personal injury!

I might be proper fucked.

 Suddenly I feel happy about the danish taxes, free health care ftw.

I tried that last time I was here and I didn't get nowhere. I don't remember why, but I think it was just too slow to be of any use from here. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Did you press 'submit', Shawn?

No, I didn't. I don't think the government would budge so easy.

Oompah Loompas in New Jersey? Damn, small universe.

Look at what happens when I try to go to YouTube from Iran. I knew porno sites were blocked, but they've even blocked YouTube and Facebook.

Do they at least block myspace for being a bunch of twats?
Oh, and try 2g1c ... to see if anyone from the government gave it a look-see. Those poor bastards that have to fill their eyes with tranny porn every day.

If Iran is like Saudi Arabia, you would have had to give them your email address, too. <_<

Once you get the proxy situation sorted out, install the FoxyProxy plugin for Firefox. It allows you to specify which proxy to use based on URL patterns, which is incredibly useful and will speed up your browsing quite a bit. For example, if you go into the Funny Pictures thread, you're going to notice quite a few missing pictures, since they're hosted on blocked domains. Rather than load the entire thread through a slow proxy, you can load the forums and unblocked images normally, and only route the blocked images through whatever proxy you have set up (I recommend TOR as FoxyProxy has a setup wizard geared towards using it).

Yeah, they block MySpace as well. Basically all social networking sites are blocked, since the government fears they will be used as a springboard for dissent movements.

Funny thing is the owner of the ISP is our neighbour, but it's not like he can do anything about it. It all comes down from higher up.

Iran seems more lenient than Saudi Arabia chaos386. I've not been to Saudi, but even the UAE is more strict in terms of Islamic laws. But then again Iran is a third world country stuck in the 1970s...

The last post made by Shawn before he was seen dragged off by the iranian secret police...

I hope he didn't press the submit button, because I suppose that's enough reason to call him a dissident ;)

@ blind_io: ouch dude, I hope it gets allright. That's a lot of money.

So apparently Hillary Clinton is finally conceding the race to Barack Obama.

It's about damn time.

"Clinton To Concede Delegate Race To Obama"
What, is there another race that she'll keep fighting? Can't she stop playing the race card?

I don't really know much about any of their politics, all I know is that Hilary's voice makes me want to murder everything.

Price paid for low taxes - some one has to pay for health care, one way or another.

Insurance companies are probably more evil than Hitler and Emperor Palpatine combined. I hate them so God damn much.

Not really, at least the insurance company that I deal with. They pay everything that the panelbeater/workshop send them without asking a single question.

I think it depends on what kind of insurance package you work with. Insurance comapny normally don't risk the chance of annoying customers that buys premium package.

^ That's seems like the minority here. My Mom has to deal with them all the time, she works at a hospital as a patient representative. She has to do billing of people who need help paying their bills, I think, usually because they get their claim turned down by the insurance company. She helps them find a way to cover the costs and if they are in a real tight bind she can cut the amount they owe. She knows first hand how bad insurance companies can be.

My permit for my new gun came through, now I just have to get it and get the gun :D

Got it :D

^ We need to go on 36 dates

^and then have a shotgun wedding?

What do you need a gun for in Denmark, of all places? :)

^To stop people from trying to eat her?

you know, since she's a Danish....

You know how when building Lego there's always one bit that doesn't quite fit on...

 You guys are great

Nah, things are calm here for now. It's the anniversary of Khomeini's death right now (5 day holiday) and I went out tonight wearing a pink shirt. You might think that kinda of stuff will get you in trouble, but really the only things you'll get hassled for are being obviously drunk or being obviously romantic with a girl who isn't your wife in public.

They don't hassle people much. I think they know if they kick people around too much they're just gonna revolt and replace the government like they did back in 1979. I mean it's the same populace...
