Brutal SLR wreck in Quatar.

That I sort of agree with Posmo, and with Jacobfox. These people just waste themselves away because they are rich, without thinking 'hang on, what happens if I end up like that guy on the news?'.

In fact, look at the picture at the top and at the guy in all white. He is taking a picture on his phone. Do these people have any common sense at all?

I'm not saying that this is lol pwned. What I am saying is that because of how stuff works in this area of the world, young, unqualified drivers are often plonked down in hugely powerful supercars with very little in the way of legal deterrents in place (you're pretty much untouchable here if your numberplate is less than 1000 for any letter available). This is a very common thing in dubai. I think that there have been three or four horrible crashes since I've been here (wednesday). On Thursday, 15 people died when a speeding expensive motor speared chinese people carrier (read: wet paper bag on wheels) stuffed with Indian, Pakistani and Bangladeshi laborers. This sort of thing doesn't have to be dangerous, but it often is. I'm gonna take my example. I'm not in the same league as these guys of course, but I have access to fast cars. Since I've been driving, which has been about 2 years, I have 0 points on my license, and the worst that's happened to me is that I dinged a back bumper because someone had parked the car weird in the garage and I grazed the wooden pillar pulling out (buffed out easily). People need to be very wary of fast cars and treat them with the respect they deserve. If you don't acknowledge the fact that when you fuck up, they'll spit you off the road, then you may find it happening to you.

For once I actually agree with Posmo, although 'lulz pwnt' is probably going a bit far.

And to thedguy, thinking about it, Senna actually managed something during his life, and indeed in death, to ultimately protect others. Sure this guy won't be forgotten by his family, but its just another news story for everyone else.
It's not that I don't agree with Posmo - seeing the circumstances of the crash (high-speed expensive car-wreck in a rich nation), I too am inclined to think that the crash was the consequence of poor judgement and inexperience.
This may or may not be the case, but even if the driver was a total idiot, the least thing you can do is to have the respect towards him and his relatives.

If you don't want to do that, maybe the best thing you could do in a situation like this is to just say nothing instead. I'm not into censorship and all that, but this is not really a laughing matter in my opinion.

Exactly! Its just hard finding people who are willing to be weary without being so self-righteous that they feel the need to tell everybody that speed kills and thus all quick drivers are murderers.

I always find that my friends who are the *fastest* drivers tend to never be in accidents, whereas the semi-quick drivers total cars like its something to be proud of.

This is one of the problems with the internet, getting your opinions over as you wish is very difficult. I didn't mean to sound respectful towards his relatives. I was saying that to everyone else (as in us on the internet, not friends etc) he will just be forgotten in a simple shrug of human nature that it is sad to see someone die in circumstances like these.

Oops, looks like I made a mistake. I didn't mean to quote your post actually.

This is why we should make all cars out of Carbon Fiber.

I see, 1 + rep and 1 -rep from a jab to the internet idiots that I call the "Break.com berks" I simply responded to the thread with "lulz pwnt" as a joke.

I for one, couldn't care less about some rish dimwit with access to car like that, for several reasons:

1. Im jealous
2. I will never meet anyone who is related to the person driving,
3. Driving at those speeds on restricted, public roads.. the guy had it coming
4. He destroyed a perfectly good supercar, when most of the people on these boards, (despite maybe being more intelligent) struggle to afford an 80's escort..
5. lulz pwnt.

Lets see whether its +rep or -rep from this post! :)

I've seen how recklessly people drive here, especially younger people (and I assume Qatari youth are similar), and I can safely say that the only effect his wealth had was buying him a faster car to crash in. I've lost count of the times someone has made a remark about how I wear a seat belt, let alone stopping at stop signs or signaling.

In fact, look at the picture at the top and at the guy in all white. He is taking a picture on his phone. Do these people have any common sense at all?

I would imagine he's taking a picture to show his son what can happen when you drive like a maniac. ;)

To be quite honest I'm struggeling a bit to find any sympathy with the guy who went off. He must have been aware of the danger of going this fast on a public road. Looking at the wreck he must have gone faster than 300 km/h, remember the solid carbon fiber monocoque, huge crumple zones, electronic aids and airbags can only do so much. It seems like the car did several barrel rolls, meaning that the air bags only does their job in the first impact couldn't help him from the "tumble dryer effect" when the car is thrown around several times.

Slightly OT, but still relevant:
I'm aware that this isn't a popular opinion on these forums, but it is worrying the way performance cars are heading these days. While they definitely are safer than their predecessors, their performance potential has grown more than proportionally, meaning that if you do have an accident that safety margin over the old ones is eaten up by the significant increase in speed. Also todays performance cars are much heavier, meaning that when you go off there is a lot more mass and subsequently energy going into the impact. This is also the problem some have with the electronic aids these cars have as well, they (along with the comfortable setup) robs the car of it's fell and lulls you into a false sense of security with seemingly endless grip and neutral handling, and then suddenly it's spits you off the road with no warning. (Off all Gordon Murray was the person who raised these concerns in his EVO column)

oh just because someone died so we cannot speak our opinion and we must cry for him~?

yes we might not know the circumstances that caused the crash, but it was obvious how fast he was going and it was obvious that it probably wasn't particularly safe to drive at such speeds, then we all saw what happened and we can all came to our own conclusion and that's it.

some people might have said something that had perhaps gone a bit too far, but if one think it's wrong for them to think that way, then it must also be wrong to think that they were wrong when they formed their opinion, simple as that.

Stop using your friends as examples to represent ALL young drivers in fast cars, just because your personal experience doesn't reflect it, doesn't mean its not true. I know PLENTY of kids who spoiled by their parents, given fast cars, and crashed them in high school, college (and yes college students are still kids) and later in my life when i hung out in car clubs and younger members showed up, many of them banged up their cars because they thought they were so smart and invincible.

So bear in mind, while you may know several exceptions to the rule, the rule is there because a LOT MORE ppl fit it.

I feel sorry for the persons family and friends, but not him. If you're going to do something that stupid, prepare to face the consequences.

Don't these people believe that basically anything that happens to them is already predetermined by God, and thus if they die in a horrible crash that it was meant to happen, thus they never really think about safety as they trust wholly in that idea?

^^ No, we believe that, but we don't live our life in that way.

Nasty accident. I agree that he did a stupid thing but I also think its inappropriate to be disrespectful. Im quite sure we all did some pretty stupid things in our lifes that in some unfortunate circumstances might have resulted in the loss of our lifes. You live and learn, you look back and realize what an as*hole you were.
This guy just had a more expensive (and dangerous) toy with parents that obviously didnt know any better. And human life is still a human life and unless we have compassion even for people that at some point in their life do stupid things (as we all did) the future of the world looks really bleak and unpleasant, full of self-absorbed, judgemental and unkind people...
