JEREMY Clarkson, Tiff Needell, The Stig beware ? a new kid?s coming up in your rear view mirror.

Reformed radio bad boy Tim Shaw, who was sacked from his Kerrang! presenter?s post in May after he was exposed by the Birmingham Mail for breaching station competition rules, is in the driving seat of Channel Five?s Fifth Gear.

Tim, aged 34, will be one of the show?s two anchor presenters, along with Tom Ford, when the new series starts at 8pm on Monday, August 11.

Solihull dad-of-two Tim said: ?This is a dream job, working on a dream show, but it?s all a bit crazy. The other day I was driving an Arial Atom which can go from 0 to 60 in in 3.3 seconds ? to be paid to do that is a joke.

?It?s like I?m just waiting for somebody to take this lollipop from me.?

In 2005, Tim was suspended by Kerrang! for staging a mock burglary at the Sutton Coldfield home of former programme director Andrew Jeffries, spraying the living room wall with obscene graffiti.

Later that year, it was alleged that his wife, Hayley, sold his ?25,000 Lotus sports car on eBay for 50p in revenge for his on-air flirting with glamour model Jodie Marsh.

?My bad boy days are absolutely behind me now ? I?ve grown up since then,? said Tim.

?I was paid to mess around on air when you can only mess around with music or people, but now I?m paid to mess around with cars instead.?

He also opened his heart to the Mail in February about his ?rapid descent into hell? as a former drug user who stole from his mother. But he credits the Mail with his move onto the small screen TV.

?I did a pilot for another show about my 50p car, where I?d rung up manufacturers asking for parts to build a car, and they filmed me fiddling about with it,? said Tim.

?Channel Five saw it featured in the Birmingham Mail, so I guess I?ve got the paper to thank for my new job.

?And then out of the blue, my agent phoned saying Channel Five wanted a new presenter for Fifth Gear.?

Trial rehearsals in Birmingham, with Fifth Gear presenters Vicki Butler-Henderson, Tom Ford and Johnny Smith, followed and from there, life in the fast lane beckoned.

Neither can I. We discussed this in the pre-ep thread. I'll keep this thread open. Tim can have his own thread.

Hopefully the guys a good presenter. I hope his "bad boy days" aren't over like he claims they are.

And it sounds as if he will be co-anchor along with Tom which means we'll see less of Vicki. Hooray!

Less Vicki = less annoyance...

fixed that for ya, i thought it was pretty clear on the forums that vicki may have a lot of fans, it seems that an equal number of FG viewers don't like her at all and wouldnt really care if she had a smaller role/absent from the show.

^ Agree. And lets hope that this Tim isn't as bad as the last Tim they had...

Small coincidence that Tim Lovejoy is also the name of the character on the Simpsons?

Oh my God! (ooops, sorry rev) - How the HELL (sorry again!) did I not notice that coincidence throughout the time Lovecock was on the program?!?!
THAT is a very gay pose.
Agreed. Its come out (excuse the pun) a bit from wrong, hasn't it :|

I'd still prefer that to the other Lovejoy and his scarfs. And he knew nothing about cars <_<

Oh he's much worse!

This guy is a cock of the highest order. First of all, he's a DJ - very bad start. He thinks he's funny, clever and controversial. Now, as I'm sure you all know, people who think they are those things never are. He's tries to act tough like he's 'The Man' and quite honestly, he'd get a kicking from a drowsy kitten.

I listened to him once on the radio: he had some promotion with a local take-away - you know the type on thing: phone in and we'll get you a discount on your meal. Anyway, to show how 'hard' he was, he then spoke to the manager of the take-away off-air, but recorded it and played it on the radio. In the conversation, he was acting really 'hard' telling the manager to give him loads of free stuff, or they would slag the take-away off on air and getting really aggressive trying to be the big man. As far as I can recall, the bloke wasn't having any of it. It was pitiful.

Think of him as an even shitter version of Chris Moyles.

Fifth Gear: rubbish, but ambitious.

I don't know how that escaped ppl, when i first got into watching Fifth Gear around the time of series 10 and everyone was bashing Lovejoy, i kept thinking 'why is a simpsons character a presenter on a UK car show?' plus i had no idea what the flesh n blood Lovejoy looked like, so the only mental image i had was the cartoon one..
