Mitsubishi EVO 8 MR

Sorry I thought the forum resized automatically, but I've resized them now and added a couple more pics. It also has a full black leather interior with white stitching that was added by the guy who I bought the car off at no extra cost to me. I haven't taken any pics of that yet...

Sorry about the comments before - of course you guys know cars, you can't know every car tho lol.

Here is some info on the EVO 8 MR for anyone interested.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Lancer Evolution VIII MR builds on this reputation, pushing the performance envelope even further. It is the first production model in Japan to use a lightweight aluminum roof panel. Other distinguishing features include exclusive Bilstein shock absorbers developed jointly with Bilstein, and BBS lightweight forged alloy wheels (factory-fitted option). The turbocharged engine is tuned to deliver maximum power over the mid-to high-rev band and generates 2.0-liter class-topping torque of 40.8kg-m (400N-m) at 3500 rpm. Detail improvements to the ACD + Super AYC + Sports ABS electronic all-wheel drive control system realize a more natural and better-mannered driving feel and a closer man-machine interaction for true driving pleasure of the highest quality.

Matt-black headlamp and rear combination lamp extensions tighten up the facial features front and rear. Turquoise-blue lenses in the projector low-beam lights located outboard in the headlamp units also give accent to the car's aggressive lines.

The outboard faces of the rear-deck spoiler plates use a dark gray finish close to the color of the carbon wing, replacing the body color-keyed treatment on Evolution VIII.

The turbocharger uses a larger turbine nozzle with matching cam profile to deliver higher output at mid- to high engine speeds.

The turbocharger waste gate now uses two solenoids. This optimizes boost pressure control to give more stable torque in the low to mid-range and helps the powerplant to generate class-topping torque of 40.8kg-m (400N-m) at 3,500 rpm.

Durability is improved through shape optimization and reinforcement of the cooling water channels, uprating from a 3-ply to 5-ply head gasket and the use of magnetic ion-coated piston rings.

Engine response is improved with the use of lighter silent shafts. Cooling performance is improved with the use of a larger oil cooler that features two extra rows.

Evolution VIII MR is the first steel monocoque body Japanese production car to use an aluminum roof panel, reducing vehicle weight by some 4 kg. Reduction of weight in the upper body lowers the vehicle's center of gravity and reduces roll moment to realize a substantial improvement in handling performance.

For increased cabin strength, diagonal braces are used to reinforce the roof joins at the front, center and rear pillars. The front door side impact bars use aluminum instead of steel, reducing weight by 3.5 kg while providing the same level of impact safety.

Engine: 2.0-litre DOHC 16-valve in-line four, Turbocharged
Power: 280hp @ 6,500rpm (206kW)
Torque: 400Nm @ 3,500rpm
Weight: 1400 Kg

0-100 km/h: 4.4 seconds (est.)

There are a myriad of differences between ADM 8, JDM 8 and JDM 8 MR. I thought this was a car forum where people were knowledgable. :(
Most of us would know there are plenty of differences between JDM and ADM of anything. But this is a general car forum, not a Lancer EVO owners club ;)

Anyways - top car mate  I like how you've kept it nice and clean and tasteful unlike some EVO drivers you see 'round.

Thought I'd update this as I'm slowly gathering goodies for the next phase of my car. I've ordered the QLD prestige plates "NVY DIS" and have got the following things so far for my build.

Got CP pistons and Argo rods on the way too. Then it's all off to get tuned.

I'm surprised no one asked about the Magna! Is it a Ralliart? AWD?

TD06 20G

not a massive jump over the standard MR turbo.

Any plans for 2.3L or staying down the 2.0 Path?

The standard MR turbo is TD05 16G, so it's a reasonable upgrade and should see 250kwatw+ with my built motor and supporting mods. Staying 2L - built 2L is a lot cheaper than a stroker and if I was going to stroke it I'd go for a GT30 or GT35 probably. :) 250kwatw+ is going to be very nice for a street car.

hmmmm Interesting.
I'm seeing 220kw on the standard turbo, with minimal mods.

Whats the car being built for? track, street, hill climbs?

Minimal mods being... ? Exhaust and tune you'll see close to 200 but not alot more. A lot of dyno operators like to tickle their dyno figures.

It's a street car - it's my daily driver.

The difference between the stock 8MR turbo and a 20G is like night and day. The 20G will make a lot more mid range torque and also a lot more top end power without sacrificing any lower RPM power.

Mods:
TBE, Intake, Tune/Flash.

No tickling there, just a good tuner/operator.

But the 20g will make way more mid, and should suit street, but *can* be a bit laggy if you get into any tight and twisty stuff.

220kw was on 1.8bar dropping down to 1.3 at about 6k due to airflow issues.

That's really good power with only those mods. Had it down the quarter yet? I'd assume with 220kwatw you should trap about 110-113mph.

No strip in Adelaide, but will again hopefully soon.

As for torque, stock advan's let go at about 5.5k in 1st if you take off slow then punch it.

RE55's arrive next week, so that should solve that problem.

RE55's for the street? I've always been too scared because of the amount of road noise they make and the fact they only last about 15,000kms.

Some new pics of my little rocket. Addition of Avdan RS 18x9 +29 in gunmetal grey, and also a carbon fibre (yes real carbon fibre) front lip, oh and some new number plates...
