It's refreshing to see american TV channels where sensible people say sensible things. Why do I get Fox News over here and not MSNBC? And what is Microsoft doing with NBC?

Can I vote for John Cleese next time?

Obama was born in Hawaii and McCain was born in Panama..

So? Hawaii was already a state when Obama was born, and McCain was born in the Panama Canal Zone.

Either way, they were both born US citizens. John Cleese would be a naturalized citizen.

"A study done by the Project for Excellence in Journalism showed that MSNBC had less negative coverage of Obama (14% of stories vs. 29% in the press overall) and more negative stories about Republican presidential candidate John McCain (73% of its coverage vs. 57% in the press overall). This can be compared to Fox News in the same report, which has more negative stories about Obama than the norm (40% vs. 29%) and fewer negative stories about McCain than the norm (40% vs. 57%)."

40% negative to 40% negative, Fox News is much closer to their slogan (Fair and Balanced) than the media average.

Project for Excellence in Journalism also stated "Fox was measurably more one-sided than the other networks, and Fox journalists were more opinionated on the air." in 2006.

Except on Fox they cut people off, yell and generally go on and on about God and why abortions and stem cell research should be banned (because it's in tha bible!). MSNBC may be biased the other way, I just call them sensible. I also note a lack of shouting and God-mongering in the clip above. I wonder how CNN did in that survey?

The PEJ only specifically listed percentages for Fox News and MSNBC, but it did say this:
"CNN fell distinctly in the middle of the three cable channels when it came to tone. In general, the tone of its coverage was closer than any other cable news channel to the press overall, though also somewhat more negative than the media overall."

Doubt even Fox News think they are Fair and Balanced. Project for Excellence in Journalism can hardly be taken seriously if it counts as "negative" a report debunking a McCain lie, and totally ignores all the complete rubbish on radio. Fox News is more like the American version of Pravda.

Even former White House Press Secretary Scott McClellan admits to using FOX :
Matthews: "Did you see FOX television as a tool when you were in the White House? As a useful avenue to get your message out?"

McClellan: "I make a distinction between the journalists and the commentators. Certainly there were commentators and other, pundits at FOX News, that were useful to the White House." [...] That was something we at the White House, yes, were doing, getting them talking points and making sure they knew where we were coming from.

Matthews: "So you were using these commentators as your spokespeople."

McClellan: "Well, certainly."

Would be a blast if Cleese took on Arnie in California
