What are your opinions on Britain's NHS?

I realise there is quite a lot of negativity regarding the NHS in the media, but that's just the British pessimistic aspect when dealing with topical issues. I personally agree with the idea of a free health service, healthcare, especially in emergency cases, shouldn't be something to pay for, even if it does mean raised taxes. The idea of free healthcare is taken for granted in this country, and really it shouldn't be.
