Hamster to get own bbc 1 show

I remember wipeout as a dodgey midday show with Bob Monkhouse. Read about it here.

doesnt quite have the brutality & sheer pain factor, nor the mysifying premise, that Takeshi's Castle had.

I liked the fact that i had no frickin idea what was happening when watching TC, just that people were getting hurt, and there was some evil emperor laughing along with me. :D

I have signed up for the swedish version of wipeout..

So the 4th episode of Richard Hammond's Engineering Connections has aired and still no comments about it?

I think it's been interesting so far...

edit: never mind, found the shows thread...

Ug no.

Wipeout is just a shameful rip-off of Ninja Warrior and similar shows. I think, even with one of the TG3 hosting it would still fail at life. :/

I didn't think I would enjoy this (being European and having a sense of humour), but this is absolutely amazing. Makes me laugh like a drain.

when will this show air? Looks like something i would like 2 watch :D

Looks like it starts on the 3rd of Jan:

Please note: Total Wipeout begins in BBC Week 1 on Saturday 3 January.

Looks like a lot of hammond on that day - there is also a kids science show in the morning:
Richard Hammond's Blast Lab
Saturday 3 January on BBC TWO

Life's a blast as Richard Hammond presents a new science-based game show for children, set in a fictitious underground laboratory

Smacks severely of a generic "nobody will bother to watch, will do poorly, will silently cancel, become short blurb on Wikipedia" show.

I forget where I read it, but I heard/read somewhere that the Hamster was also going to host the Australian version of Wipeout (again, made in Argentina, only with Aussie contestants). I think it might have been in one of the quality Murdoch papers we enjoy here in Australia ... :puke:

Nah, ours are going to be hosted by these two

Wipeout is fast food TV. If the commentary is smart and biting like the US version then it'll be consumed with ease and little regret by the TV public. It's nothing special but it works as something to occupy your mind for an hour and make you appreciate things on TV that take a little more effort. Good luck Richard, hope it goes well for you.

Haha. Hope I can find this on the net somewhere, I loved the American version, it made me laugh so hard. Big balls ftw!
