These babies look sensational no doubt, but it doesn't quite fit my own personal definition of "fast", with just 150 horses to to lug 1.5 tons around. One time, a classmate and I were talking about old Japanese cars, he asked me what old Japanese car that I'd love to own and I responded with "a mid to late '60s Toyota 2000GT". So this dumbass was like:

"Uh, you mean Mitsubishi."
"No, I mean Toyota."
"But Mitsubishi doesn't make 2000GTs, there's no such thing, they make 3000GTs."
"No shit, I didn't SAY Mitsubishi. I'm talking about a nineteen SIXTY-seven TOYOTA, not a nineteen NINETY-seven Mitsubishi."
"Oh. What the hell is that?"
:?

No one needs to have heard of the car but jeebus christ, some people just flat out refuse to listen and comprehend. I swear to god some kids these days have no clue about things made before last month, let alone something from a bygone decade.

Yes...absolutely 100% awesome, no doubt about it.

However: if you're going to write in english, have someone double-check any translations before posting. :p

No joke, was thinking the exact same thing.

Lots of respect goes to the guy building the 2000gt, beautiful car.

I think this is appropriate

Also, if you're going to redo the car, I'd drop another engine in it, maybe a V6 turbo or a V8.

My all time favorite Japanese car. Beautiful.

Aluminum is just soo much sexier than carbon fiber. I want to make an all aluminum 60's style speedster now :(

Dang you as soon as I saw this thread I thought of that and was going to post it.

EDIT: I never realized JC narrated that. I must have first watched it before I started watching Top Gear, or watched very much.

Isn't welding aluminum kind of a difficult process?

That's some really impressive engineering, I love those 2000GT, pity there isn't more of them around

Holy Fucking Shit... the skills needed to be able to pull that off... the mind boggles

EDIT: i love that its just this old asian dude that does this... it could be the broken english but i get this real feeling of humbleness like "i am just a guy fixing cars" it's so awesome
