Lens Flair

If it walks like, talks like, and commands an army of ducks (out of picture), it's a damn duck!

that's excellent
i like the first one best
how did you do it? photomerge or more complex?

any chance of a full res version of that?

Photomerge is too dumb to combine photos that have essentially nothing in common. It's all copy bit from here, paste it there, mask it, repeat, repeat, oh shi- needs some heal brushing, repeat, repeat, repeat, blend. It's not very complex, but it isn't exactly easy to make it look natural.

Sure, I wasn't doing anything else so I did up a full res version, now with 30% more! Heh, I'm sure that looks nothing like how it looks in real life. It's not perfect, the right side could be blended better and stuff. Heh, I added a little bit of Scotland for the trees on the bottom right from a photo of mine to avoid unnecessary repetition (you can tell because it's not so noisy :p )

anyways... sort of off topic... carry on.

Ooh, I actually kind of wanted the 35/2.5, but that one is hard to find.

Heh, I got mine for free when I bought a D1X from a friend :p

I didn't know the lens had to be modified. What does it need other than the IR focus markings it already has?

Nothing mechanical, only a little "polishing" :) The lens coatings are made to reduce UV-rays so to make the lens better for UV photography you need to polish off the coatings from the front lens.

Check out Bjorn Rorslett's page, especially page 7 which deals with lenses from the IR/UV viewpoint and even has a photo of him polishing an E-series 28/2.8 :) -> http://www.naturfotograf.com/UV_IR_rev00.html

Really pleased with this one also :)
